Can the Spuds do it?

Nope they are too cheap. They will be in the box and short handed most of the game and you can't win that way.

A loss before playoffs may not be a bad thing for Jefferson.Moorhead's due,and now is the time.

Can they do it? Sure. Will they? Not likely, in my estimation. While the Spuds are playing better than they did for about a 9-game stretch earlier this season, they still have a lot of room for improvement.

Although I haven't seen Jefferson play this year, I have to believe they have a very good team, just based on their 19-0 record. But after comparing schedules, I think the Spuds' schedule looks to be tougher. So we'll just see.

The only way Moorhead is gonna leave BIG with a W is if they completely outhustle and out hit the Jags. But, that is how the Jags win their games so I just dont see it. I'm guessing it will be close but the Jags haven't lost a game on BIG 1 in quite some time and I don't see it happening on Saturday unless the Jags are too focused on thier game vs EP coming up....

Jags 4
Spuds 2

I've always felt that the most dangerous games for good teams are either the ones immediately after a big win, or immediately before a major matchup. This game falls into the second category for Jefferson, and if they overlook Moorhead, they could easily watch the perfect record to disappear.

It's been hard to get a read on the Spuds since they're so streaky. They seem to be on the upswing now, though, so Jefferson had better take note.

Ok - I just gotta say it again: It ain't gonna be pretty for the Taters.

(They made a liar outa me when I said that before the Warroad & Centennial games.)

I don't think you can really bet against Jefferson's record, but it is pretty obvious they play an easier schedule than most as well. I expect it to be close, but Moorhead won't be able to pull it off imo.
However, if Moorhead comes out flying and catches Jefferson off guard, anything can happen. I know Moorhead has a great team in there somewhere.

Both teams have earned the records they have. Bottom line is that the Spuds just aren't that good this year. Jefferson would beat them 9 times out of 10. Jefferson 7-2 over the duds.

Moorhead is going to get into penalty trouble and jefferson is going to capitalize on their powerplays. Also jeferson defense is going to limit the moorhead offense to only one goal.

Jefferson 4

Moorhead 1

Even in a down year, teams don't just overlook a team like Moorhead. I can't see the Jags doing it.

Jags - 3
Spuds - 1

Some people may not agree with me, and I did not see the game, but it seems to me as if Centennial did.

If Jefferson is smart, they will take note of that and avoid the mistakes of the Cougars.

Score Update

I just heard the score is 2-1 after the 1st period for Jefferson, but I don't know what the shots were. Also, it sounds like this isn't being broadcast on myfoxhockey.com after all. But for those in the Fargo-Moorhead area, you can listen to it on 1660 AM radio.

Another Update.....

I don't have a radio with me, but I am getting regular updates from someone who is listening to the game. The Spuds scored 2 goals during a 5-on-3 power play in the 2nd period and now lead 3-2. Both goals were scored by Trent Johnson.

Update....

After 2 periods, it's 3-3. Jefferson scored on a 5-on-3 power play. Also, the Spuds had a goal waved off with about 8 seconds left in the period when one of the Jags (intentionally?) knocked the net off. Sounds like the Jags might be getting nervous about that perfect record....

Well, I give the Spuds a lot of credit. No, they didn't win. But they played Jefferson a heck of a lot tougher than most people (including myself) thought they would. They've proven they can play with the top teams in the state.
