Ugly win for the Jags

Once again this pesty Lakeville team gave the Jags a run for their money. This is the second time i believe the panthers played the Jags tough. O'Conner played probably his worst game of the season for the Jags and gave up 3 goals but luckily stud Caleb Herbert stepped it up and scored the hattrick and the Jags got away with a victory 4-3 in OT.

I can't help but to think that the Jags might lose a game or so coming up. Heard the spuds played centennial tight today and you know EP is gunning for the Jags on the 10th. If i know lindquist, even though the Jags won today, he will take it as a loss and hopefully the Jags will look sharper going into next week and the week after when their toughest two games left on the schedule show up. But with all that said, still undefeated lol

The Jags have a problem, they will lose to either Holy Angels or Edina in the sections, maybe they should schedule some of the teams they will face in their section tournament !!!!!!

we've been over this, they cant, they couldn't even get Edina to agree to the annual scrimmage.

Secondly, they wont lose. They are the deepest team in state. If a team is going to beat them, they need fast fowards. If somebody is going to beat this team, I think that Centennial is the right set-up. However, Edina and AHA are the perfect teams for Jefferson to beat. Jefferson will force Edina to a 2nd and third line while keeping their D tired, its a recipe for disaster. As for AHA, shut down that first line and AHA folds. I love Mattson, but he can only do so much.

Not sure if the powder blue boys are the deepest. I will argue they are one of the deepest.

The cougars played the jags tough and thanks their best player, justin parsek, they were kept in the game.I attended the game and he controlled herbert, faust. siiro, dietzler, and gallus. he generated all the offense for this team and is being looked at by mankato and st cloud, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with

Just because you always say this I thought I would put together an offensive breakdown showing why I think Jefferson is deeper than Edina.

Edina-90 goals
1st Line(Lee,Everson,Gaarder)- 57 goals, 128 points
2nd Line(Eppel,Sit,Taft)- 16 goals, 36 points
3rd Line(Chapman,Cutshall,Kretzman)-6 goals, 13 points
Top 6 D- 7 goals, 41 points

Goalie- Ankeny 14-3 4SO
1.64 GAA 305 SV .916 SV%

Special Teams
PP- 15-59 25.42% 0SHGA
PK- 8-69 88.41% 2SHGF

Jefferson-107 goals
1st Line-(Siiro,Gallus,Knutson)-35 goals, 81 points
2nd Line-(Herbert,Knight,Dietzler)-34 goals, 73 points
3rd Line-(Kahl,Hedlund,Haaland)-12 goals, 28 points
Top 6 D- 23 goals, 85 points

G- O'Connor 16-0 4SO
1.23 GAA 242 SV .927 SV%

Special Teams
PP- 29-57 50.88% 0SHGA
PK- 9-68 86.76% 8SHGF

Jefferson's scoring is more spread out between their lines and Edina looks more like a one line team. Although that is one very good line if the Jags can find a way to shut it down they should be able to beat them.

Jags will beat edina, all edina has is 3 guys, after that they drop off pretty quick

I'm not entirely buying this. Is the scoring more spread out? Yes. But remember that 1) Edina has not been running that first line together all season, 2) Edina plays a schedule that is significantly harder than Jefferson, so their goal totals are going to be inflated.

Just because a line isn't putting up gaudy numbers does not necessarily mean they aren't playing well and doing good things that help the team.

Depth is the sort of thing that's best measured by observance, not numbers. Seeing how well one team's lines match up against another's is far more helpful in figuring this sort of thing out.

I hope your kidding. They have more than 3 kids that can play. Both teams are deep and if they meet in the section final it will be a very competitive game. The Jefferson-South game I feel is a little miss leading. Jefferson outshot them 41-14 according to pointstreak. I wouldn't count either team out by using words like will.

I agree, may the Jags should have lined up some Holy Angel, Hill, Cennential, Blaine, Hopkins, Edina, Tonka. Every one knows the Lake is down this year having teams like Burnsville, Rosemount, Easeview, Chaska lossing a lot of senior talent from the prior year.

I think karl and hockyjunkie are right. When and if Jefferson and Edina meet at sectionals, it will be a very competitive game. Both teams are deep and goals can come from any of their lines. They have good goal tending and solid defense. It might come down to coaching. I would not count either team out and I'm sure their coaches are not dismissing Jefferson's lighter schedule or Edina's reliance on their top line up to this point. The tight game with Lakeville shows the Jags' vulnerbility and losses to Centennial and Hopkins and the tight game with EP show Edina's.

I'm sure both teams will be working hard down the final stretch and the numbers just don't tell the whole story. Can't measure heart or desire or coaching!!

The Jags don't have much/if any flexiability on their schedule.

They are required to play lake conference teams twice(except Kennedy this year). Grand Forks three games replaced the Schawn's event for them two years ago. It has been tradition since who knows when to play Rapids, Wayzata and Moorhead.

Bingo - 26 games. MSHSL limit

I think that Jefferson is the Roseau of 2009... ok schedule with good record/team stats... come sections Jefferson will slip up and their lack of SOS will hurt them

If they are still undefeated.......they are legit !!!!

Shut Herbert down? ha I believe Herbert put up 3 goals and an assist in a 4 to 3 game. The OPPOSITE of being shutdown. He obviously had no control on him being apart of all 4 goals. numbers speak for themselves.

And didn't Roseau win the state championship 2 years ago after playing a "weak" schedule? Was Jefferson supposed to decide a year ago to bail on the Lake this year because it's a little weaker? Does Jefferson pick and choose their opponents first so all of these other teams were available to them? Answers are yes, no, & no.

What a stupid test. Dumb teacher made us do all the work than told us the answers before we handed it in.

Little Falls goes out and beats JV girls teams night in and night out and people think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Jefferson plays an average (soon to be above average) schedule and gets no respect. I don't get it.
