blanco oso, Whats your basis for that opinion? Spring Lake Park is good this year, and next year they return there 4 top defense, and 7 out of their 9 forwards, and most importantly their goalie Mike Nelson. The team will be tough the rest of this year and next year as well.

Yeah, if a team like edina was returning 4 defense and 7 out of 9 forwards it would be worth talking about, but you have to remember we're talking about SPRING LAKE PARK.

i think spring lake park is a much improved team, they did beat up on totino grace. As for Blanco, he is from WBL. Enough said

I posted this on the Section 4A??? thread and thought it would be a nice response to the "beat up on Totino" comment. SLP will return several key players, but I do not see any of them stepping in as the leading scorer, which is one player that will not be returning for them next year.

I watched the SLP/Totino-Grace game and I would say that Totino was out scored by SLP not necessarily out played or pounded by SLP. I give credit to SLP for winning, but the score did not reflect how the game was played. Totino started their back-up goalie, and did play sloppy at times, but they out shot SLP 2 to 1 in the first period and were down 3-0 after one. Totino continued their 2 to 1 shooting ratio and missed 3 break aways in the second period. Totino controlled most of the game by dominating in the corners and around the net. SLP responded by icing the puck on a regular basis and had one player who played very well and had a heck of a shot; SLP's goalie also played very well. In my opinion Totino has more skilled players across the board and more depth and I would have to pick Totino over SLP during the play-offs. Just some views and comments from a neutral party. It was a fun game to watch!

stmartin123 I think it's funny because your right, we're not talking about Edina. We're talking about a program like Spring Lake Park, that is small and has a handful of good young players that will be ready to step up the rest of this year and next year. And mnhockeyfan77 they are talking about Scott Benson.

#10 Josh Bevers (Captain) - I believe he had 3 goals and 1 assist. I'm not sure if he is a good player, but it looks to me like he had a good game.

if i checked the stats right and my research is good, that Texas team won the state title and have kids all around texas playing on that team. And in an article it has Bevers not playing? So if he is their leading scorer i could see why they lost. Good State championship team and the leading player out. makes sense to me. but i wasnt there but from what i heard the Texas team had a lot of caliber. they are a prep school. They obviously are good if they spend a crap load of money to come up here to play MN teams. thats my point.

It is true that the Dallas team won state in Texas, and as a fan at the game I saw that it wasn't one of the Panthers better games. And your right, Bevers was out that game.

Has SLP beatin anyone good?? I'm almost positive that they haven't. . Let's face it Totino isn't a good team this year, far from it. . SLP is like an Irondale with out a good coach, they don't have much talent and with out a coach who knows hockey, your aren't going to get anywhere. .

Wow, Texas state champs. Might as well give them the Stanley Cup.

If this team from Texas was really that good they would be coming up here to play the Minnetonka's, Eden Prairie's, and AHA's of the world. They're not. They're coming up here to play Spring Lake Park.

So the Spring Lake Park team that beat Totino Grace 7-2? Maybe I read it wrong but Totino Grace is ranked in the state of MINNESOTA? hmmm..... that texas team must of been terrible, your right.

hmmm...TG is a joke and so is Spring Lake Park. I guarantee if that Texas team played a top AA school they would have lost by 10 goals and that isn’t a joke.

SLP has a couple of freshmen putting up decent numbers considering that they are freshmen and SLP is a developing squad.

A.J. Fossen – Spring Lake Park 7g-11a
Mike Reilly - Academy of Holy Angels 2g-16a
Nick Auman – Spring Lake Park 2g-16a

Notice that this puts them at the same level as Mike Reilly of AHA points-wise. Note the em-pha-sis.

Of course someone can mention strength of schedule and so forth, but give them credit, they may be the ones to make SLP into contenders finally.

Show me where Totino is ranked somewhere other than your own mind and I might think of you as less of an idiot.

Totino is WAY down from where they were a couple of years ago. Not a top team even in Class A, and they don't have much besides Dan DeLisle who is the real deal.

I've seen Spring Lake Park play 3 times this year and there is nothing much to get excited about. They are not a team to watch out for as they are not going to become a top team. No offense to Mr. Fossen, he is only a 9th grader so he has time to develop and I wish him the best of luck, but he is not even close to one of the better Freshman in the state. He is a transfer from Maple Grove, and he would have a hard time just making the Maple Grove High School team.
