St Thomas (10-3-1) @ Tartan (9-4-1) 1-24-09

This is a huge conference game. St Thomas is 6-0-1 in conference play while Tartan is 4-1-1, with their only loss coming against St Thomas earlier. A win would most likely seal the deal for St Thomas, but would open the conference up to any of 5 teams with a Tartan win.

St Thomas...if they come to play will be a tough team for Tartan to handle.

It will be interesting to see what kind of number STA puts up on Tartan. 8 last night against the Zephs. Tartan played them close early this season, albeit 5-1 final, STA got a couple in the waning moments of that game. This one
might be more interesting than we think.

Just to throw it out there, in their last 7 meetings St Thomas is 7-0, outscoring Tartan 38-5.
I think this game could easily go either way and will definitely be close, but that is often the interesting thing about hockey; how similar in talent/ability two teams can get to, with stats being so different.
Any conference St Thomas loss would make the end of the season, and especially the Hill game, that much more important, but a win would also be great.
Good luck to both teams.

STA 7-0 outscored Titans 38-5 so youre saying were due!!! we are so close to stepping up to a higher level. Tartan 3-1. sta can be cocky and lazy. i think they will be saturday after beating mahtomedi.

2-0 STA with an empty netter. Kurt Altricher had an unbelievable game. Tartan narrowly outshot STA and had the better scoring chances. Folks right now Tartan looks like they are for real. STA got a sloppy PP goal at the end of 1, goalie down and they shot it over him. STA shots mostly from the points or bad angles. If Altricher doesn't have the game of his life its a different outcome.

As has been said many times on this forum "good teams find a way to win". No argument that the Titans were the better team for both this game and the Hill game - frustrating that the score didn't reflect that fact. Keep working boys, you are that "good" team now in all aspects of the game. Those deserved wins will come -

Tartan Also had two 5 on 3 PP where they got most of their shots from I still think STA has more fire power than Tartan.

STA has waaaay more firepower. No doubt, but to say they got most of their shots on a 5-3 is ridiculous. Seems that people on this board have a hard time recognizing good effort from any of the perinnial also rans of Minnesota Hockey. Tartan has improved...all i'm saying...i don't think they're good enough to win state, much less get there, but, they're one helluva lot better than they've been in awhile. Seems to me this school gets cherry-picked by HM and STA. Put Westerhaus and the Little Kreiger kid on Tartan and they would be 3 lines deep instead of 2. This team has trouble putting the puck in the net. Depth between the pipes is an asset, as well as a couple real strong defensemen
