Who is this kid? Joey Benik from St. Francis. According to pointstreak he has 75 points through 17 games. That is pretty impressive. ha. Has anyone seen him play? is he a legit real good hockey player. Or is he just a puck hog on a crappy team play abunch of bad teams.

He has 30 assists, I don't think you can call him a puck hog.

Just wondering what is the single-season record for points? He must be on track to being close to the record.

I just checked it on MSHSL the record is 111 points by Scott Lecy from Rochester John Marshall with 61 goals and 50 assists

But really if you see the St. Francis they haven't played anyone very note worthy they will meet up with BSM Irondale and Totino Grace in Feb. and late January though

He must not know how to play defense....he's only a +11 according to Follow the Puck.com

Actually in the 06-07 season Jared Festler scored 125 points for the Little Falls Flyers.

As I said in a previous post, Joey can play defense but is either told or allowed to play suckhole every game. I've seen these kids play since Peewee and EVERY one of his teammates have gotten worse every year (Belisle is two years younger). One of the assistants is a dad who has been with them all the way up. They must practice the get the puck to Joey drill every day.

Benik was a final 20 at 15's. He's a good player who HAS to leave after this year. If I were a coach at the next level I would want to see him play a full season with quality players around him. Not even a before and after would be enough, I'd want to see a full season. From what I hear he plays both ends with the Owls. He's a great kid too.

The fact they scheduled Meadow Creek three times should tell you something about St. Francis. Their other non-conference is bad too, Mora, Pine City.

Benik, Joey 17 2 5 7

his statline for minnesota owls.... thats not very good at all. st francis must play an awful schedule. i bet he is a good player though, adjusting to juniors can be tough. but the MJHL while it has gotten better is still not too good.

First of all, Joey Benik is probably the most over rated player in hockey. He never crossed the red line coming back on defense. All the kid did was wait in the neutral zone for the puck to come to him, this is what I noticed in the game I saw them play.

Also, St Francis as a team is pretty pathetic. There schedule is absolutely brutal. Anytime a team is up 8-0 and gets a power play in the last two minutes, a quality team or coach would let the third/fourth liners play the power play. Not St. Francis, according to the Meadwo Creek game Benik was on the ice in the last two minutes on the power play even when the game was 8-0. That is something good teams don't do.

Neutral opinion...St. Francis is below average and J. Benik will never play beyond MJHL.

Gotta play defense!!
