Thoughts or predictions?

Well this is a tough one to call in my opinion. Blaine only has the one loss this season and that was to Edina. Any team can have a let down on any given night. Other than that the Bengals have played their usual brand of disciplined hockey.

Being a homer I believe that the Crimson will have no problem skating with the Bengals tonight. But to be able to beat a very disciplined Blaine team MG will have too stay out of the penalty box. If the Crimson ever needed a big win to prove to everyone that they are a legit tonight is the night.

My prediction is the Crimson pull out a big win!!!

P.S. If you have never been to watch a game at the Fogerty arena come tonight. Theres no doubt their fans will be a rockin. Other then Osseo's sea of orange these Bengals fans are terrific...

Fogerty is a great place to watch a game. Right size venue with seating on both sides and a good view from above the visitor's goal. The crowds get bigger and more rowdy as the season progresses.

Somehow, Blaine has managed to keep their penalty minutes down this year. I give MG a slight edge for line #1. Blaine a slight edge for Lines #2 and #3 and D. Frakes and Harper can both win a game for you in the nets.

MG is a rising power and should be good for years to come. If the game is close, as it should be, the goaltending will probably make the difference.

Personally, I think Blaine is destined for State.

The Bengal fan section is terrible this year so don't expect to see much from them. I can't comment on Maple Grove as I haven't seen them play yet this year, but I can say that Blaine has had a full week off, is at home and will have the best player on the ice in Nick Bjugstad. I also feel that Maple Grove had a great chance last weekend to prove they were for real by beating Centennial, minus Pitlick, and couldn't do it....

I have to go with BLAINE in this tilt on their home ice. I have a good friend that is a parent on the Maple Grove team and he clearly thinks that Maple Grove is over rated and hasn't beat anyone that would be considered a quality opponent. The crimson BEST goalie at this time as he is out due to violations. The other goalie I see is rated high in the metro stats that are posted in the paper every week - he says that is an illusion and if Blaine can sustain any pressure the Fogerty Ice House will be rockin'.

On top of that, MG coaching has the inability to make adjustments during games according to him - so coaching goes in favor of the Bengals.

I personally would like to see Maple grove pull off an upset - just don't see it happening this time if past history is any indication.

Blaine 5-2 in this one!!!

Wow if this is truly one of the opinions of one of the MG parents that is really unfortunate. Obviously this parents player is not a starter and it sounds like sour grapes to me. For most teams it's true that not everything is roses all the time but hey life is too short to walk around pissing and moaning about a sport that our kids play.

Secondly your friend is some what correct. Although the Crimson have not beaten a top ten team to say that none of MG wins came against quality opponents is ridiculous.

Oh and by the way a teams best goalie is the one who is eligible to play!!! I think most of MG opponents in the loser column would have to agree...

GoldThorpe is very close to being correct. MG's coaching is not very good. Hard to say about the goalie comment, because he really hasn't been tested yet. Blaine has played a lot tougher schedule and will help them in this game. MG played a tight game against Centennial, but they were without Pitlick. MG has a good chance. It will depend on whether MG's coaching makes them play tentative or if they let them play.

Blaine 4-2

BLaine wins 6-1 Final

Maple Grove spent waay too much time in the penalty box and the 5 minute major penalty killed them. Blaine skated very well tonight and outplayed MG in almost every aspect.

BTW about the comment about Blaine's fan section. I think most students are still kind of laggin from the Prep Bowl loss. I think Blaine will be rockin come Sections though..

Honestly tonight's results were the last thing that the Crimson fans expected. There's no doubt that Blaine was the better team tonight.

Congrats to Blaine they played a terrific game!!!

Blaine did play and excellent game. They had their powerplay clicking with 3 goals in about 2 minutes on a checking from behind penalty. I hope this gives Blaine the confidence to go into Centennial and take down a tough Cougars team. I also agree with BIGSEXY that the student section was very poor tonight. I don't think I saw them stand up once and they hardly celebrated the goals or any of the big hits.

Blaine was on fire. They made MG look like a bad team. It just ddn't seem like MG had anyone that could dig the puck out. They didn't look like the same team that has dominated so many games this year. Blaine is going to be tough. It should make for an interesting match up between the Cougars and Bengals in the sectional finals. I really thought it MG might be able to upset one of these teams this year. It doesn't appear after what I saw last night that it will be possible.

First, let's be clear. Blaine's powerplay is amazing. 5 of their 6 goals were scored on the PP, 3 of which were on the same 5 minute major. They had only one even strength goal and even that was 4 on 4. I would have expected at least 1-2 full strength goals from the 'state champ'.

Blaine's student section has been very unorganized this year. The superfans from football have virtually disappeared.
However, If FSN gave blaine a game on high school hockey night, the students would be rockin .. This is the first year in the last 3 that FSN hasnt scheduled a game at Fogerty.

So you need TV to create buzz?

well traditionally Blaine has had spirit contests and many other events at such games.
The superfans have lagged since the prep bowl loss to wayzata, im sure a televised game would get them back on their feet.

It's been interesting live streaming games...we've been all over the state and I haven't seen the ultimate student section. It's early in the winter season still....maybe too many things to go to/do?

Can a "superfan" really be called said name if she/he lags? Not judging, just a question.
