What schools would be at the top without USHL,Ann Arbor, and Private schools? It always intersting to find out what communities would have exceprtional teams if they kept their own players.
My top 5
1. Woodbury
2. Chaska
3. Eden Praire
4. White Bear
5. Lakeville South

Chaska and Lakeville South????
I have to say I disagree with those two, I think my top five would be
White Bear, Eden Prarie, Edina, Woodbury, Bloomington Jefferson (in no particular order).

Chaska The 3 Reiliy's at Holy angeles Matson out at Ann Arbor. That's 4 palyers that would change any team.
Lakeville South has a half dozen players at St Thomas Academy

Probably not a top five, but Mayo sure would be one heck of a team with Thauwald, Voigt, Chezik, and Kurth.

Lakeville south WOULD be in the top 5. Not only did jordan schroedor leave to STA, but 4 of the starters for STA at state last year were from South. This year they have at least 5-6 players that are main factors of varsity.
Just because they have never been a good high school team doesnt mean talent doesnt come from their town.
Don't blame the players tho, blame the poor coaching that drives them from their home town.

Just wondering, but who have some of those teams lost to juniors or Ann Arbor? Meaning players that would lead their team if they had stayed basically.

Who has Edina lost?
I didn't say they lost anyone, but the question was who would be at the top if these things didn't exist, and I personally think they would still be one of the best teams

if we can count schroeder - since he would still be a hs senior - Then Lakeville North

champlin park would put a good team out every year if they didn't have these programs just out of the class of 2010 they would have
Tyson Fulton
Riley borer
Charlie borer
John Russell
Ryan Ach
Nik colpitts
Zach hurley
That's a bunch of talent lost to private Schools just in one class. Not to mention these players would have graduated from champlin:
Casey borer
Dustin Fulton
Jordan Fulton
Brady borer
Mike louwerse
Tyler sura
Jake bauer
Loren egan
I'm not sure but I think joe long from elk river should have went to champlin but open enrolled at elk river
Brandon brodhag
I'm sure there are many others I'm forgetting...
What I'm trying to say is that champlin park puts out talent it is just no one ever stays long enough to show it

Over the past few years, Duluth East would have easily made this list. The team 2 years ago, would have had Podge Turnbull (USHL), Cade Fairchild (NTDP), and Dano Jacques (Marshall). That's not even touching some of the other people who went to Marshall. That team could have made a very serious run at a state title.
This year, however, everyone has stayed home, and not coincidentally, East is back to being considered one of the very best teams in the state, though they obviously still have plenty to prove.

i would have to go with MOUNDS VIEW MUSTANGS they would of been unreal in 2005-2006 or 2006-2007
there starting line up would have been pretty much all d-1
G- Joe Phillippi
D- Ryan McDonagh
D- Mark Alt
F- Mark Phillippi
F- Mike Hoeffel
F- Dan DeLisle
i think there may be couple more......cant think of them right now.
thats a pretty sick first line all went to private schools just think if mv had that has a line up and then just think how many of the other players would of learned and got better with playing with all of them

O i read ya. After watching the Woodbury game, I must agree with you.
WBL ?

Who from WBL is playing somewhere else ?
According the (stupid) theme of this thread, Wolter would have to return to Mounds View. I don't think any of HM's key players are from WBL.

Eagan loses a lot of kids to Cretin, STA, Holy Angels, Minnehaha, Don't know any names specifically but I know they lose a lot of kids to those schools that contribute in all sports

To reaffirm your comment on Eagan, recently theyve been better at keeping the talent within the program (or at least at the time of their 05-06 state tournament appearance). However before that there were a few that got away, i can only think of off the top of my head:
Ryan Hurley - Holy Angels
Jared Hummel - Holy Angels
Dan Hirtz - Cretin Derham Hall

They also lost Rudnick this year.
The old a.d. made a huge mistake when he selected the current coach at Champlin. He has done nothing to try and keep any of these players and make this program thrive. He also lost Bauer and Brodhaag even after they had allready played for him. Too bad for the kids here.

If there was no juniors, private schools, or graduating early this would be lakeville souths line up
First line
Jordan Schroedor - STA then ann arbor now gophers
John Haeg - Holy Angels
Bill Simon
Second Line
Jake Binder
Zak Schroedor - STA
AJ Reid- STA
J.P. Graveline- good defense- STA
Goalie- Matt Mcknelie STA (Souths main weakness is goaltending, with their first two games havin 5 of 8 shots go in in the first period)
last year they had crandal and mergens and one more that i forgot playing for STA as well when they would play for south.
Schroedor alone would make this team but having him on a line with bill simon (second in lake for points) and AHA's john haeg they would be lethal.

How about this spin: How many kids got a chance to play high school hockey because kids went to the juniors, Ann Arbor, or transferred to private schools and created room for them?

Sports are not about getting as many kids involved as possible, they're about winning.
