On Friday, October 31st the 12th Ranked Minnesota State University-Mankato Mavericks will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota to face off against the 5th Ranked University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Golden Gophers at Mariucci Arena before the two teams travel to St. Paul, Minnesota to play the second game of the First Annual College Hockey Showcase at the Xcel Energy Center on Saturday, November 1st.

The Mavericks are coming off of an off week while the Golden Gophers are coming off of a three-point weekend against the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Minnesota State University-Mankato will be the designated home team for Saturday's game at the Xcel, but it will almost definitely be a heavily Golden Gopher crowd.

Thoughts or predictions on this WCHA Series or the College Hockey Showcase?

What was Fairchild smoking tonight??

Too casual with his passes and too giving with his turnovers for a good portion of the game.

Zacharias (sp?) was really impressive tonight, not sure why his helmet fell of twice, but hope he's ok after that gash to the head, sure showed himself with that many saves and coming back into the net after wrapping his head. Kangas was ok, kind of caught a bad bounce on the first goal. A lot of nice hits, and a ton of penalties (guess it'll be like this for awhile, takes time to adjust to the new rules). Jordan Schroeder had 3 assists, and should get his first goal very soon, he's really impressive to watch.

Nice call, 2 goals last night.

Gophers played very well again this weekend. Keep it going.

Witnessed this one on Sat. Minnesota overcame a very slow first period start and looked pretty tough the rest of the way. Ness looked average and doesn't appear strong enough yet to handle the big boys in front of the net. Fisher looked to be their best defenseman and Schroeder looks to be their best overall player. White looked like he was maybe sick or something. Alot of standing around by No. 7 Gophs as a whole look a whole lot better than last year and may be a contender.

As I have said many times before, I don't see White as much of a player. Seems to live and die by the breakaway and it isn't there like it was in HS.

Fischer is by far the best Dman on the team, he looks very good out there. Ness & RJ is a good combo I think, give Ness time and he'll blossom.

Schroeder looks good, but I think he depends heavily on those who are out there with him. I think Barriball is playing more of a complete game for them right now. And obviously Stoa is finding the right spots to be in at the right time.
