Do not believe its been posted yet but thought I'd put this out and say congrats to Mr Forbort.

For those interested, an article in the GF Herald written this morning and Heisenberg has updated his page.

Who?

I'm sure he's a good player if he's going to the Sioux, but I've never heard of him.

A few months ago, UND lost one of the top 1992-born defensemen, Garrett Clarke, to the major junior ranks.

It didn't take the Sioux long to find another one.

Duluth East's Derek Forbort, considered one of the top 1992-born defensemen in the country, has given a verbal commitment to UND. He will come in 2010 or 2011.

He also had offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Minnesota-Duluth. He visited all five schools and said it came down to the Gophers, Bulldogs and Sioux.

He's 6-3, 190 and plays an offensive style. His coach says Forbort reminds him of Paul Martin.

Is he staying at East this year, or is he going to the USNDP?

Congrats Derek...this makes two years in a row a Hound has committed to a D-1 program prior to his junior year. Not bad.

Congrats to Forbort on choosing a great WCHA program, he seems like he will do well there especially if he keeps growing and filling in to his body.

I am curious though as to why he chose the sioux over a team such as the Gophers?

Didn't want to be compared to Paul Martin.

A bort is an imperfectly crystallized diamond or diamond fragments used as an abrasive :)

Congrats Derek,

For those interested.

I have spoken to a number of NHL scouts about Forbert and they all say GREAT things about him and expect him (barring injury and something freakish happening) that he may well be drafted in the top 10 in the NHL Entry Draft come his draft year. I thought this was surprising until I saw him play in a few summer scrimmages with the team in Burnsville as well as at the Select 16 festival in New York. He is going to be GREAT this year. And if he is picked so high in the NHL, look for him to be one or two and done at UND and head for the NHL.

Good Look Derek, you're going to make your family very proud

I just need to ask, do you sleep during the night? Just can't believe you could sit and post at 3AM?

No, not really. I work during the early mornings and the paper isn't here by when and I figured I'd look online on this board. But at least I get to be done at work by 2PM.

So are you going to answer the question about Rob Johnson or should I wait for someone else to?
