I will not be there.

Recent eye surgery to repair my retna has me disadvantaged at the moment.

Scott Riopelle and Dave Aker will be there from District 16. I ma sure Sunday morning will be very interesting.

Please pay attention people to Sunday morning's agenda item. The board member they are going to discipline and possibly remove, is none other than the Board member who razzles and dazzles and whose efforts go beyond our expectations.

As a member of District 16, and one of the unified supporter's of our Director, who we elected, I refuse to accept the fact that he may be removed by people of which we, the members of Minnesota Hockey and District 16, do not get to elect.

Mark is being punished for speaking for us. He is being punished for representing his constituency. Only in communist countries is that allowed to happen.

Please, if you get a chance, e-mail your District Director and Regional Vice Presidents and ask them to consider the ramifications if they allow this to happen.

Our District Directors, who are elected by us, should only be held accountable to us. I can see punishment for non-performance, but this is clearly not the case. Mark was doing what we, District 16, were asking him to do. Our voices do get heard through Mark. The recent one-site tourney debacle is proof of that and we are proud! This was the consensus by unanimous vote at our District meeting last week.

Please pass the word that the people that actually pay the bills, are not going to stand for it!

I agree. If you do not want Mark removed by the Board, you should let your District Director know your opinion immediately.

The Minnesota Nonprofit Corporations Act (Minn. Ch. 317A) and Article 7 of the Minnesota Hockey Bylaws allow the Board to remove a Board member, provided that 2/3s of the Board members vote yes to the removal motion.

317A.223 REMOVAL OF DIRECTORS.
Subdivision 1. Modification. The provisions of this section apply unless a different method
of removal is provided for in the articles or bylaws.
Subd. 2. Removal by directors when there are members with voting rights. If there are
members with voting rights, a director may be removed at any time, with or without cause, if:
(1) the director was named by the board to fill a vacancy;
(2) the members with voting rights have not elected directors in the interval between the time
of the appointment to fill the vacancy and the time of the removal; and
(3) a majority of the remaining directors present affirmatively vote to remove the director.
Subd. 3. Removal by directors when there are no members with voting rights. If there
are no members with voting rights, a director may be removed at any time, with or without cause,
by those directors eligible to elect the director.
Subd. 4. Removal by members with voting rights. A director may be removed at any time,
with or without cause, by those members eligible to elect the director.
History: 1989 c 304 s 36

Article 7 of the Minnesota Hockey Bylaws:

"Removal of Officers and Directors: Any officer or director may be removed from office by 2/3 vote of the entire Board of Directors at a regularly scheduled meeting or at a meeting called for that purpose, with proper notice to the persons involved."

I don't agree with Mark on some issues (e.g., year-round AAA hockey, the private school issue, the ability to choose where you play hockey and the opinion that Minnesota Hockey has a monopoly that is immune from Antitrust laws), but I firmly believe he volunteers his time for the right reason. He genuinely loves hockey and has devoted numerous years of his life to promoting Minnesota Hockey. Any attempt to remove Mark from the Board for voicing his opinion and standing up for what he and his constituents believe in is wrong and should be defeated. If the Board desires to take any action against Mark, the Board can censure him. But, as we know, Mark was already censured by the "editorial" in Let's Play Hockey.

I still don't understand why MN Hockey is looking to remove Elliot. Is it just because he dared to voice his opinion in Let's Play Hockey??

Personally, I don't have an opinion on the "One Site" policy for the State tournaments. But even if I disagreed with him, I still wouldn't support punishing him for going public with his stance.

We DO live in the United States, right??? He is an elected member of MN Hockey and he should have the right to say what he feels is in the best interest of the District he represents. If the people in his district don't agree with him, they should be the ones to remove him when the next election occurs.

My letter to lets play hockey upset the president and some others on the ex committee.
Apparently, the letter insulted them. It also did not support the action taken for one-site, and, supposedly, DD and board members are to support the action taken (even though the action taken did not support what had previously been taken (catch 22???).
They (ex comm) wants me to make a private and public apology to them.

I have made private apologies to others that I may have offended in the heat of the battle. But I have and continue to refuse to the ex committee.
I also told some of them that in my opinion they should resign.

I am not liked. We will see what happens on Sunday. :? :)

It is time for all Mn Hockey Board members to be contacted and let them know how your opinion. Many times the President has stated we should listen to out constituents. This is only when you agree. Let them all know. If you can be there on sunday, even though it is a closed meeting, if they are aware of a large number of supporters present might make a difference. Keep up the battle for the players of Mn Hockey.

Did MH respond to you or are you also on the board of MH Hockey?

I think the new executive director of MH is going to do great things for our youth hockey. I am thrilled we got em. He will not be a puppet of the "old school" and I believe he will on his own seek out the customers and hear their concerns and ideas. This one they nailed right on.
