The WI Badgers are a western Wisconsin team that just started skating together this year.

Are you sure, I hear that there was a little discussion going on about the "Wisconsin" part of that team.......sounded like a Minnesota Jr Badgers squad ( I heard this from a MN parent that was there). Were the Northern Wings parents a bit fired up?

Is this the same team that ruffled some feathers in the Meltdown Open division this spring?

I know the WI Jr Badgers are based out of Wisconsin but they have been rumored to roster some Minnesota kids that play on other AAA teams. I don't know who was on the roster for this tournament.

were they wearing the Wisc Jr Badger jerseys? - if yes, pretty lame when teams bring in all of these kids and try to represent their team as something it isn't. I suggest that teams pick their team, work with their team and play as their team. If you want to play in a tournament with a group of kids that are a combo platter of AAA programs than don't wear your teams jersey - it is misleading.

Who gives a hoot what jerseys a team is wearing?? It's tough to get a full roster at a summer tourney, and often times teams have to fill spots with kids from outside their program. It's been going on for years. I like the idea from a competitive standpoint... it often times makes a team better and ups the level of competition in any given tournament.

You'll notice this more and more as your kids get older. It's common for teams to make last minute phone calls... and you can bet that they don't call kids that are going to make their team worse.

94

Just a side note:

There was a team wearing FIRE jerseys that appeared to win the 94 level.

STILL DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY SHOULD WEAR THEIR JERSEYS - IF YOUR TEAM ISN'T PLAYING THAN BUY A PAIR OF PLAIN-JANE JERSEYS AND PLAY. IF THEY TOUT THEIR VICTORY AS A JR BADGER VICTORY THEN THEY ARE NOT FAIRLY REPRESENTING THEIR TEAM - FACE IT: PEOPLE JUDGE AAA BY WINS AND LOSSES AND COACHING A TEAM GOES BEYOND DIALING FOR PLAYERS. NO NEED TO TRY TO TELL ME HOW IT WORKS WITH OTHER TEAMS - BEEN AROUND LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW. THIS IS MY OPINION.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but it seems to me that you're wasting a lot of time and energy worrying about something that really doesn't matter. If Team A has 4 kids missing due to a baseball tourney, a high school hockey function, or whatever, and they are already entered into a tournament, what are they supposed to do?

Sounds to me like you either a) are peeved because your son didn't get asked to play, b) your son's team got worked by them, or c) you are the AAA gestapo.

especially when they have kids on the bench who are actually from Wisconsin who play only a few shifts, while the Invite ringers run up 8 goals apiece. Surely people have better things to do with their weekend.
What about the kids they beat? If it's about the kids, than I agree get different jerseys and call the team something different and compete at the right level. It may happen at the older levels but there the kids are making the choices. Who brings in kids to win an Open tournament? an invite I could understand, move up to the right level

good point about it being tough to fill a AAA team for a tourney!!! - what a model program - you plan a tournament and then can't get your kids to participate??? - embarassing. If you are going to be a AAA team than act like one.

Ok, here is the final word on "stuff".
Tier I: don't sweat it, they'll all be back. The players/teams are NOT as good as they are anticipating. Rather, this feeds the ego of those parents for the next "miracle" team. Oh, wait a minute, they are all dreaming....

Jr Badgers........... Look at the Rosters of all teams in college, pro, and otherwise and it would appear to me that each team is made up of players from all over. Guess we have a major problem on our hands now. How are these teams going to tell each other apart when they all have white jerseys? Go Jr Badgers and any other AAA Team who can put together a competitive team and offer a fun experience for the kids!

Wow you really tied that discussion together with that whole college/pro angle.

Glad you liked. BTW. Those same Badgers I believe won the Meltdown in the spring with only 2 minn. kids. guess maybe those players should have worn white jerseys.

I believe that the Blades won the '98 division of the Meltdown over a Canadian team.

I know somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct. The Badgers were in the Open division. The same division as the Duece, Snipers, etc.........
