I heard Lucia is looking for two goalies, one on scholarship and one as a walk-on, are any MN high school goalies getting looks?

'AA' senior goalies that I dont think have been offered scholarships for next season:

Joe Phillippi? (sp?)
Hakan Yumusaklar? (sp?)
Derrick Caschetta?
Mike Morgan?
Matt Buonomo?
Jack Hanna?
Brandon Jaeger?

'A' senior goalies that I dont think have been offered scholarships for next season:

Alex Christianson?
Brian Nelson?
Peter Johnson?
J.P. Wright?
Ben Waalkens?
Nathaniel Foot?
Jake Vavricka?

I'd be surprised if more than one of those played at the D1 level next year.

How many over the next couple years?

Yumusaklar has the best chance to play high end d1. I think he will at some point.

Phillipi has a chance, becuase he is a proven winner. will be interesting to see what he does now when hes on an even playing field with the strength of his opponent in front of him.

Cashetta-No chance.

Morgan- I just dont see it..A solid D3 goalie here.

Hanna-No opinion

Jaegar-Another D3 goalie here...

just my 2 cents

How about Jesse Schilling in a few years and is Aaron Crandell going anywhere?

Another in a few years could be Adam Wilcox (SSP), I think he is related to Alex Stalock fromer SSP goalie.

I don't see any of those goalies going D1. Maybe if they play juniors for a couple years and do well.

My guess is the Gophers will be looking at Kent Patterson. Played at Blake for a couple years, plus the juniors for a couple years. I believe he was drafted in the 4th round. I know he is coming off a major injury, but has potential to be really good.

Also, watch out for the gophers to continue to recruit juniors which have given verbal commitments.

I wouldn't call it a MAJOR injury. He had a sports hernia operation. Simple procedure.

Griz77,

I would describe a major injury as someone that misses more than half the season this past year. Correct? How many games did Kent play this past season in the USHL?

I know he is good. I know he is highly recruited. I also know that teams might want him to play another year in the juniors because of this injury.

I think there are two guys scheduled to come in.
One on partial scholarship and one an invited walk-on.

That was the rumor without any names attached to it.

Colleges, especially quality ones like the U of M, rarely take goaltenders straight out of high school. They want them to develop more and prove themselves at a high level of play with a longer season. Look for someone out of the USHL most likely.

I would guess Joe Howe as scholarship and maybe NAHL walk on. Just some thoughts.

I agree - goalies are always the players to mature and hone their skills last. What one has done is HS is not as important as what he does at the next level.

Joe Howe is just completing his junior year so he wouldn't be a candidate for next season.

Well, considering im a goalie, and i have had the same sports hernia surgery, I can relate fairly well to the specifics of the surgery. It all depends on how agressive one's PT is. I only missed 5 weeks.

Kent only played 20 games this season. If i were to guess, he was falsely diagnosed for some time before he actually found out about the sports hernia, so that could have cost him even more time.

Somebody feel free to correct me if they know what happend.
