Just got the news that Tyler Lapic verbally committed to Wisconsin.
Wisconsin got a good one with this kid. He's fast strong and has a great shot.
Thoughts?

It would have been sweet to see him play for MSU, haha.

Is he really that good? I mean dont get me wrong, he is a great hockey player. Is he strong enough to play at Wisconsin? Wisconsin is known to get some really good recruiting classes.
I would have thought he might have gone to MSU, Bemidji, or SCSU.

The kid has a huge upside. I know MSU went after him hard because of where he projects to be in a couple of years. The kid is 6'2 185 and still growing. Skates well and has a great work ethic. Good for Tyler, but I am selfishly disappointed I won't get to see him play weekends in Kato.
It would have been a great day yesterday for the Mavs had Lapic committed to them as they received verbals from Tyler Pitlick and Justin Jokinen also. Would have been a good trifecta.

no question he is good player, very strong on the puck as well as an excellent passer. I'm not sure on that size, he doesn't appear to be near as big as Ambroz who has roughly the same dimensions. Now will he stay and play at NP or head for juniors.

I agree that I did not think he was that big. I might believe the 6'2", but not the 185. I thought of him more as a lanky dangler.
MSU might have gotten a good recruit in Pitlick, but not sure about Jokinen. I was not impressed with him at all against Edina. If he is that good, he should have been able to dominate people when on the ice. Against Edina he was no factor at all. Very surprised he commited somewhere this early.
I was hoping to see Pitlick in a Gophers jersey.

New Prague for his senior year and 1 year of Juniors after that before heading to Madison

Heisenbergs recruiting site has him listed at 6'2" 195

He's closer to 185 than 195, but there isn't an ounce of fat on that kid's body. It'll be fun to watch how he progresses in the next few years. Tonsa upside... especially with his work ethic and desire.
CONGRATS TYLER!!

Congrats to Tyler. He works hard at his game and whatever he gets at this game is well-earned. Also glad to hear he's planning to stay in New Prague next year.

Congrats to Tyler!
I am very happy for him and to see he will stay at NP.
knowing this kid he will still have a great Senior year, he wont be one to take it easy and try not to get hurt, although i am sure he may be somewhat cautious.

I seem to remember SCSU and MSU beating Wisconsin this year....these two programs are just as good

Well said, take a look at SCSU and MSU recruits and their seasons this year my guess is they'll be in the top part of the WCHA for the next couple years

Unless they get hit w/ the NHL bug that has really affected many college programs...
Congrats Tyler!
Now, convince your teammate Seth (possible AAA defections) to stay w/ you in New Prague, and you have a good shot at the Section 1A title this year

He has certainly gotten an ego. He had a little knee pointing dance he did at the Select 17's. seemed like his mouth was running too.

At this level on. Everyone chirps. BIG DEAL!!!
Knee Dance big deal. Ovechkin still jumps into the cglass after a goal like a peewee player and he is the best in the world. Get over it.

Yes, but Ovechkin is actually GOOD. He has earned that right. Zip your lip and play the game. Leave the cutsie stuff out. Bit of a pretty boy.

Thats right WISCO would give a full ride to someone who is not good.
And Celebrations are part of the game NOW at every level.
Again get over it and loosen up and have fun with todays new game and put away the old school. Thanks Just give a kid his congrats.

behonestbenice: When your boy does a cutsie dance in front of Stu Bickel or Joe Finley he may change his tune.

That would be hard since he and Bickel will be on the same team.
