You hadn't noticed the AAA on most of the jerseys? Usually a tip off.a ice person wrote:Showcase is AAA? Well everyone has their opinion I guess.

The teams you were mentioning were not familiar to me, so when in doubt, you ask.....right?
As long as your happy with what you pay for, why should anybody else care?
We have experience with two AAA teams; one was "invitational"; we didn't come close to winning a game ALL season and there were all sorts of shenanigans.a ice person wrote:Showcase is AAA? Well everyone has their opinion I guess.
Not every Kid trying out is going to make these independent AAA teams. So Again Showcase is a nice opportunity for the AVG player to try to better themselves. It sounds as if you are saying that its ok to be a practice player and maybe the kids that play showcase want to play the game. I understand what you are saying , I think you need to understand some kids like the fact they can show up 30 minutes before game and just play the game.a ice person wrote:Night Train commented"I posted earlier that there are at least 20 1994 AAA teams in the metro alone. They should all be in the MN AAA Hockey League."
No, all teams should not belong to the MN AAA League. We have had experience playing in the MN AAA League and we now play with a independent Teir 1 AAA team. There is not one thing that the So called "AAA" Showcase team offered that was better than the independent team has to offer, unless you like to pay more for your team dues so others can make a salary off of you. The Showcase teams play way to many games, not enough practices(and their practices are usually only a hour, which is one of the great downfalls of association hockey),and you pay more money. Most Showcase teams are at best a Teir II team, and some are not even at that level. If Showcase teams were comparible to independent teams you would see more of them in the invite tournaments and for the few that do play in invite tournaments not too often do they go very far. If the reasoning for playing on these Showcase teams is because your chid wants to also play baseball, lacrosse or another sport, you should find a independent AAA team that also has practice players on their roster( these players go to all the practices but is not on the tournament rosters unless they need a substitution, the cost is usually 1/2 of what the other players play) this seems like it works for most kids that want to play multiple sports. Your child will actual improve on his skills and other abilities over the summer practicing with this level of players instead of just filling the pocket books of the Showcase and playing aton of games in a league that always seems lopsided in skill levels within the league. And I know for a fact that many independent teams are looking for these practice players to add to their rosters, they help keep costs down. Most independent teams only charge for what it costs for them to practice,play,uniforms,etc...
Yes I would agree. Just letting people know of the options out there.CoachJ wrote:Not every Kid trying out is going to make these independent AAA teams.
