Games at the Bantam level need 3 refs on the ice.

Wasn't there, did they get the call right in the end? In your opinion anyway.

The report I got was that the ref got the call correct in the end, the EP kid was clearly in the crease. But like I said, I wasn't there so I would be interested to hear what you think.

The play happened so fast I could not tell how the man got in the crease. If he was pushed in, the goal should have counted. If he was not pushed in then it should not have counted. A third ref would have solved that problem. In either case, the goal judge should not make that call, a third ref should. I am not bitching wether it was a goal or not. Why are there 3 refs for every game of the year except the VFW state.

It's not the goal judges job to decide if someone is in the crease or not only to flip a switch if the puck crosses the line.

You should add to your list "Move on it's not the end of the world" and "let's get evey your rink hooked up with video equipment so we can have instent replay"

Deffinetly need 3 refs in Bantams. There were three in our district tournament and it worked really well. I don't believe that 3 are needed in Pee-Wee's though. Just Bantams and up.

VFW is an invitational tournament sanctioned by Minnesota Hockey.
They can use whatever system they want as long as they use USA Hockey certified refs.
Complaints should go to the VFW committee.

Thanks Elliott70,

If I felt that strongly about it I would follow up. I guess I put this pole out just to add a little humor to it.

Can we stop REF bashing, I mean if a Linesman a zone behind the play wants to waive off a called goal by the linesman 5 feet away from the goal and the Referee another 5 feet from the goal, saying the player definatively directed the puck in with his skate, who are we the parents in the stands to judge? Go Refs and do your best, we can bitch about ya, but we can't play without ya!!

come on- the only reason to use three refs is because the three chosen are to slow to keep up with the game, maybe they should not have been chosen to begin with, if three aint anough what about four, these guys are getting older.
Just maybe the good ole boy network should be thrown out and let some younger guys or gals start doing the bantam games.. good skating refs should have no problem doing the 2 man system,, and in this case why dont you ask the coach from the opposing bench , because he is about in the same position as the third guy would be in the 3 man system
