Stomping Suspensions

Ok, I have watched both stomping incidents - Pronger and Simon.
They were both stomps with intent, but with not much chance of serious injury......both have done dumb things and been suspended, but one gets 30 games, the other gets 8 games???
I know it is today's NHL....but why not call match penalties and give them game suspensions???
I could see both getting 5-8 games, but I do have a problem with the disparity between the two....Pronger is a huge goon, as well as Simon.
Both guys would be welcomed in most locker rooms.
I think it is sad Simon got much more punishment. Pronger is an idiot as well and I would love to see Simon, Fedoryk or Boogie suckpunch that guy!
