I can't believe that there is no national tv coverage of the championship games. This is biggest thing in High school sports, fans all over the U S! FoxN covers some games then drops the ball! Sad day in ''State of Hockey" Some thing has to change!!! Need to ban together and voice opinion. :x

yea

First off it is not big enough to show on national television. You think average high school hockey players in Maine or Michigan even have a clue where Edina is or that Hill Murray is a private school? It's like football in Texas, their State Tourny down there for football is probably just as huge but truthfully I don't really care cuz I don't live there as many others I think would agree. Come on now...and secondly it is actually on nationally(technically) on the internet. You can stream on channel 45's(12 for me) website all over the world as they like to say.

Texas Football

Indiana Basketball

Minnesota Hockey

Why not air all the tournaments on ESPN and ESPN 2

I don't know some of the obscure sporting events that are televised nationally are not nearly as big.

Someone should have contacted ESPN 8 (The Ocho)

i understand that few states would watch the tournament but come on i would rather, being from Minnesota, watch Texas football than the national arm wrestling tournament which is real and i have watched on ESPN but there are programs on ESPN that could seriously go out the window to some of the championship games

The state dodgeball tourney here in Minnesota is one of the country's best.

haha I agree on the arm wrestling, you have a point there. Pretty much beyond pointless to even put that on TV let alone ESPN.

There are many kids and adults in Minnesota who could care less. There is no need to make it a nationally televised event.

What? No one saw the National Paper-Rock-Scissors Championship on ESPN 2?

I think I read somewhere (maybe SI) that the order of most popular high school sports in the country goes like this (in order):

MN hockey

Indiana BBall

Texas Football

I don't know what that was based on, but anyway I liked hearing it!

ESPN has run the game at least once before......

Back in the mid- to late-1980s in Arizona. I turned on ESPN (they only had one channel back then) a few weeks after the state tournament one afternoon and they had a replay of the state hockey championship game.

I like the idea of having Indiana's BBall, Minnesota's Hockey, and Texas's Football on tv i would watch them all

and i know that there is things they can replace

I hate to be the Barer of bad news but... hockey as a sport does not get any national attention. The NHL is struggling(partly because of what I think is a awful TV contract). College hockey does not get any coverage because it just would not get the ratings to make money. For ESPN to cover a high school hockey game with nation wide air time, it just won't happen.

The least ESPN 8 ("The Ocho") can do is carry the tournament.

No, they wouldn't. I love our tourney, but it is a regional event. The NHL couldn't draw numbers on ESPN - a high school game would draw next to nothing nationally.

I saw that and vowed to never watch the "doosh" again. Unless they start airing hockey games, of course. :x

I have seen HS football games on ESPN.

The NHL is struggling to get ratings. What makes you guys think that a level of hockey two or three (depending on how you look it) levels lower than the NHL is going to do better?

ESPN

Embracing Stupidity in Part because of the NBA

I placed parental controls on ESPN its just wrong too much basketball. My son will never watch that

Agreed ESPN shows too much basketball and baseball. However, to say that they should broadcast the State Tourney on ESPN is a bit ridiculous. They had to put some of the NHL PLAYOFFS on that stupid Versus network that only some people can watch. I think getting the NHL on ESPN regularly would have to come before they broadcast our Tourney
