Who can deny that sova hasn't put up the numbers this year and has started to use his 6'5 200 pound size to his advantage

He has my vote for AP Defensive Player of the Year. Bo gets honors, too.

I will say that while people should just see this topic as a "joke", Sova has greatly improved his game over the past year. As of now, he's up to 11 goals and 29 assists for 40 points on the season. Not bad considering he's a defenseman and has nearly doubled his points total from last year (23). What I've noticed is his confidence as well as shot. Last year he seemed to struggle with one-timers but it seems to have turned around this season.

I am glad to know there are others out there that see this kid as a potential Mr. Hockey. Nobody has hyped him up. I would like to ask Mr. Spiros of the Star & Tribune why he cant spread the ink out a little further and cover a kid like Dan Sova. A number of my friends are sick & tired of the promotion of lesser talented kids, but have
parents that are in "THE CLUB".

Way to go SOVA you are truly a great candidate.

I would agree that he has improved in many areas. I also think his skating could be an issue. Not that he is a terrible skater, but not the smoothest in areas such as being quick off the start and in transisition. Last night he really did have some nice one timers and may have had 4 to 6 shots to the hole as well. Just having a nice senior year may not warrant Mr. Hockey status.

I agree a nice senior year may not warrant a Mr. Hockey. Has anyone done any background checks on the other players who are up for Mr. Hockey. Do their High School stats warrant them for consideration?

This kid is very talented, but still a bit raw. He is the most underrated player to come through Hill-Murray in quite a while. While other teams focus on Hill's studs, this guy can be the X-factor. He has a lot of life on his shot and he is a bona-fide playmaker. As said, he isn't the greatest skater, but how many guys his size are tearing it up in high school?

Nice topic about a great kid. Maybe I misread this but for anyone to suggest Mr. Hockey I sure hope it wasnt brought up to discredit a great kid (as the selection process has been completed) who continues to work hard to improve his game as well as be a great leader on a team that in my opinion has the most talent in the State. I have watched Sova go out of his way to make sure everyone gets accolades when he has had a nice goal or a nice assist. With his size and natural offensive instincts I hope he gets an opportinty to play at a high leval because witrh some fine tuning this kid could be a contributing D at a good D-1 school. Congrats to Sova on a great Sr.year and a trip to State.
