This is the one Hopkins has been waiting for, the rubber match against rival Tonka. Will the Royals fade away or will they shine?

Will it be a Krueger v. Fons match-up?

Will Jake Gardiner take over the game?

Will the Skippers collapse under pressure?

Will the Royals play a solid 2-way game?

Post your predictions and thoughts...

Mine:

Minnetonka - 3
Hopkins - 2

Tonka had almost 100 SOG total in the first 2 games and I think the barage will continue and the dam will break on Sat.

I would like to see Tonka win, its these kind of games that can turn in to heartbreakers. With everyone looking and expecting Tonka to be playing @ state with a potential third and final with the Hornets a talented and under the radar Hopkins could be major league buzz killers.

Yeah, the Royals definitely gave up way more goals than I expected against Wayzata. If they don't tighten things up, Minnetonka will definitely come out victorious.

Fons will carry...................

Hopkins may have been outshot in two regular season games. But the Skippers will go home with a loss............Fons will carry the Royals to the Section championship..................

Fons has had a great year, but if he plays like he did thursday night, the Royals will go home feeling Blue. The team that stays out of the penalty box should win. Hopkins really got ignited thursday when Zata took multiple penalties in the 3rd period. Will be a fast, good-skating game.

Tonka-4
Hopkins-1

Tonka will totally out work them. They will be ready to play.

Hopkins with the upset........this is the game they've been waiting for, they overlooked Wayzata, but managed to hang on, they will be ready for this one.

3-1.

overlooked wayzata? hahah dont think so, why would they overlook a team they had tied earlier in the season?

Maybe because they beat them 5-1 just last week, and it could have been a lot worse??????

Its a pretty well known phenomenon in collegiate and lower level sports- when a team has a big game on the schedule they under-perform the game before and also the game after if they pull the upset or come close(hangover effect). Hopkins was almost caught looking ahead to Minnetonka, but they will be ready this time and it will be a great game no matter who ends up on top.

If they were looking ahead that just isnt preparing well for a playoff game. It was a 4-5 matchup against a rival and a team they tied on Jan 19.
But it happens with high school kids, hopkins first taste of success in a while, and their rivalry with tonka.
Should be a good matchup.

It just sounds funny hearing Hopkins might have been overlooking somebody in hockey playoffs. maybe USA was overlooking USSR in preparation for Finland and should have won 6-3?

Tonka versus Hopkins

This is the ultimate match up in this section. Can Hopkins score, we know both have stud goalies, it is up to Hopkins ablilty to score against Tonka. The edge has to go for Tonka's first line.

If we can learn anything from the CDH girls team this year it's that anything can happen in sections. As much as Minnetonka should be favored (although I don't think it should be much given the season split) it would imho be foolish to expect Minnetonka to roll Hopkins. All it takes is one stellar goalie performance, one bad bounce, one penalty and/or one stellar individual effort to create a goal to win or lose a game.

You had to watch a girls game to learn that :?:
