Congrats to the CDH Raiders. Playing extremely well and coming out of a very tough section by beating some excellent teams. Good luck at the X!

congrats to CDH. They are playing some good hockey, hustling to the puck and taking advantage of opportunities. If they continue to race to the puck they will give anyone a run for their money.

By commenting that section 4AA is a tough section, I don't believe I in any way implied other sections were not equally challenging.

Goph9 are you kidding me? Are you telling me that 1AA is as difficult of a section to get out of as 4AA? If you are I need to get me some of what ever you are on!

i am actually happy stillwater didnt make it. because its about time that an "underdog" team goes to state! everyone in our section underestimated them.

What ever your on I DONT WANT SOME! Half of you people on here dont know a damm thing about hockey! Where do I mention that 1AA is difficult? Let me rephrase what I said. Every game this time of the year no matter what section it is, is a tough game.

Full story in the Pioneer Press today:

"Section 4AA is pretty loaded,'' Raiders co-coach Jeff Keys said. "We knew we were the underdogs. I think that helped us. We came in loose. I thought coming in, the way we were playing, that we could play with anybody.''

You say every game is difficult this time of year, and I would disagree. I say there are some that are more difficult than others including many teams that faced tougher semi-final games then many teams faced in their section finals. You made a point to say 4AA wasn't anything special, and I again disagree. I think it was hands down the toughest section in the state, followed fairly closely by 2AA. I'm sure you will tell me how wrong I am, and how I don't know anything about hockey since that seems to be your specialty, so let's hear it.

OK seriously 4AA is one of the HARDEST SECTIONS TO BE IN you have Roseville, White bear, Stillwater and now Cretin. 3 out of the 4 teams right there are ranked high in the top 20. So who ever is saying that 4AA isnt anything special or difficult that's bull crap. My team is in 4AA so im pretty sure we know how difficult it is.

-allhoc11 im on ur side with this by the way.

Let's look at this:

Section 2AA: Eden Prairie, Edina, Holy Angels, Minnetonka, Chaska

Section 4AA: Roseville, Stillwater, WBL, CDH, Hill-Murray

Section 7AA: Grand Rapids/Greenway, Duluth, Cloquet, PHM, Forest Lake

I'd say those three could go either way.

Challenging path to state in each of those sections. 2AA & 4AA member teams reversed.

The greater the difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it.

Would going to State be quite as satisfying if it was easy? it would be nice to see all of the sections appear to be stacked. Then we would see some real competition even in the early sectional playoff games

CDH was 0-5-1 v their three section opponents. Has there ever been a team (boys or girls) that have advanced to state with three similar upsets?

I can't remember a story like this, but IMO I thought they should've been a better team all year. You look at the top end talent on that team, and wonder why they weren't winning. I guess they picked the right time to put it all together!

It doesn't seem likely that any team could ever have done this, that it has to be some kind of a record. But then again the boys tournament goes back a LONG ways, just after WWII I believe, so anything's possible.

But on the other hand I wonder if over the years they've even kept track of each team's wins and losses in sections as they made their way to State. Of course once you get there they have records for every conceivable stat. I know in the boys' tournament John Mayasich

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Mayasich

still holds records, and that goes back to the late 40's/early 50's.

Does CDH turn around in the second half of the season have anything to do with their transfer goalie starting to play.

Yes. Also, Kelly Wild was gone for quite a bit of the second half and they became a better team playing without her. When she came back things clicked better. Keys, Carlson, and Wild are all great, great players.

CDH surge IMO hasn't much to do with the transfer goalie. The skaters are making the difference. If you seen the CDH StillH20 game the CDH goalie fills alot of net, but throwing rebounds out there like perfect passes, but StillH20 didnt capitolize following shots to the net to make the score. Out of position many times, but still no advantage taken. On the other hand the CDH kids won the race to the puck against roseville and StillH20 and grabbed on to the opportunities they were presented, they were motivated they are skating better than earlier in the year. Now they know what its like to win.

I think a majority of blame for Stillwater has to Fall on scheid. He
and Housley should both be fired.

How can the game fall on Scheid? The guy only won a state title a year ago with less talent than he had this year. I think people need to realize that high school coaching jobs pay about as much as a weekend waiting tables at perkins! This isn't NCAA/NHL hockey!
Also before you post mean things about a coach keep in mind this is a bunch of KIDS hockey coach that they might admire and like.

People are so overly critical of coaching. Were mistakes made in the game, probably. Doesn't mean that scheid isn't still one of the top coaches in the state! Also doesn't mean that we wouldn't make the same mistakes if we were coaching.
Stillwater lost to a hot team, roseville lost to a hot team and WBL lost to a hot team. Congrats to Creitn!

Come on! How can you blame the coach? They had by all accounts another successful season. Just like you can't explain last year’s incredible success, you can't then judge this year’s disappointment. Yes they had high hopes, but it only shows how difficult it is to win. That team has nothing to be ashamed of and that coach should not be criticized, at least not by how they finished.
