Zero:
People in Miami all die.
People in Minnesota close the windows.
10 below zero:
Californians fly away to Mexico
People in Minnesota get out their winter coats.
25 below zero:
Hollywood disintegrates.
The Girl Scouts in Minnesota are selling cookies door to door.
40 below zero:
Washington DC runs out of hot air.
People in Minnesota let the dogs sleep indoors.

How cold does it have to get before these games cancel? The minus in temp is one thing, but wind chill on top of that is tough.

you better have small gloves under your hockey gloves. you also better be wearing a turtle neck, face mask, and long johns or your in deep trouble in those temps.

I would doubt if the MSHSL will allow this game to be played outdoors if the temps are that cold. I'm assuming there is a backup plan to move it inside.

Yeah the urban heat effect keeps the cities extra warm

So how strong does the wind have to be before they have the captains and refs at center ice for the coin toss asking which end they want to defend.

I'm sure most of these kids (well at least the LOW, Eveleth, and Roseau kids) have spent plenty of time on an outdoor rink in these kinds of temperatures -- and without pads and such on. The kids playing will be just fine. Its the ones on the bench, the fans, and the coaches that will be frozen!
Worst comes to worse, they can add the locker room to the shift change schedule like the Rangers did in Mystery Alaska.
FYI- those guidelines at the MSHSL link above are meant for skiing. Hockey players are dressed a little differently.

This is a prime opportunity to remind everybody that the only reason that Johnson lost the BBHC last year was because they had to skate into the wind for 2 periods, when they clearly should've done it NHL-style and made them switch ends halfway through the 3rd period to even it out.
If they had done it the right way, Johnson would've won by 4!!!

Cut & Paste from a little further up before those pictures:
Blue <-4 degrees F (Ambient Temperature)
FIS** — No competition limit. Severe frostbite and hypothermia risk. No metal jewelry. Eye protection for frostbite. Windscreen for genitalia. Cancel events which are > 1 minute in duration or produce speeds > 10 MPH or if wind is > 10 MPH.
** FIS = Federation Internationale de Ski (Adapted from reference 2 and the FIS rules)
