DM 4-1, and get first seed in 7A, although it doesnt really make a whole lot of difference. Will probably be Falls, DM, Hibbing, and Virginia in Semi's no matter what happens with seeding.

I wouldn't completely count out Greenway, they could play spoiler in the playoffs.

didn't Marshall recruit a couple of Virginia kids a few years ago. Have the teams played since then? Coach Hendrickson will have his boys flying in this one. upset special VIRGINIA BY TWO!!

I fully expect to be puzzled by the some of the calls tonight. However, DM is nearly at full strength for this game and I don't see it being a close game.

I'm suprised at the number of predictions of a large margin of victory for Duluth Marshall. I don't think that will be the case. If you look at results of common opponents, Marshall only has a slight edge:

Similar Results:
Silver Bay: Virginia 10-1 Win, Marshall 12-0 Win
Greenway: Virginia 5-2 Win & 4-2 Win, Marshall 7-2 Win
Hibbing: Virginia 3-2 Win, Marshall 2-0 Win
Duluth Denfeld: Virginia 4-3 Win, Marshall 3-2 Win

Close Results:
Hermantown: Virginia 3-4OT Loss, Marshall 3-2 Win
Cloquet: Virginia 5-7(EN) Loss, Marshall 5-3(EN) Win

Different Results:
Thief River Falls: Virginia 2-3 Loss, Marshall 5-2 Win

When you throw in the fact that Virginia has had injuries to a few key players and they are back now with a couple of games under their belt -- not to mention the fact that this game is on Virginia's home ice, I don't see the great disparity between the two.

There is a little bit of bad blood between the coaching staffs (and there is more to it than just the Hedley transfer), so I expect both teams to be amped up. Virginia will probably be treating this as their biggest game of the season, so I expect a good effort on their end. I will be shocked to see anything other than a one-goal game as the clock winds down in the third period.

The game is at 7:30 as it was listed. (There is no rule about scheduling games around the caucuses). I know there is no radio coverage for this, so if someone has nothing better to do, I'm heading over to this one and I can give some updates via cell phone if someone wants to post them on this board. (Send me a private message if you do!)

3-1 Marshall wins.

They scored with 35 seconds left in regulation on the powerplay to break a 1-1 tie. It appeared the Virginia goalie had the puck frozen, but no whistle went. After about 5-6 seconds of jabbing and poking, it finally snuck through and trickled over the goal line.

They added an empty netter with 0.7 seconds left to make it 3-1.
