I know a Swedish instructor and he said to finish practices his coach would play 4-on-4 games with the Defense against the Forwards. According to him the Defense always won.

Well, if you put 5 defensemen out there and played against 5 forwards...
I just notice that so often when teams have a lead or are a man down and don't worry at all about scoring just 95% about keeping the puck out of their net they do it well. Well, if they did that even strength and didn't worry about scoring until they had a perfect opportunity, would that work?
Or, if you didn't stay back and just had 4 or 5 guys attack all the time, could that beat defensive hockey?
What o-town just said is what I was thinking.
WAY TO TOUGH!!

Thats a tough question...maybe only because of the lack of knowledge I have for the game

If you play great defense, the best you can do is kiss your sister. If you play great offense, you get to score.

Yeah, but if you play great defense you'll get opportunities every now and then, plus never got scored on. If you only play offense, that defensive team will shut you down and get opportunities on you.

Now yer changing the rules of the question Watcher. Your initial premise was completly defensive or completly offensive minded.

defense wins games!
My favorite example is Apple Valley in 06'. A great defense beat the best offense (AHA).

let's make this a little less broad.
This is the defensive team:
Ryan McDonagh
Jake Gardiner
Aaron Ness
Joe Gleason
Reid Ellingson
This is the offensive team:
Pat White
Mike Dorr
Jake Youso
Zach Budish
Tyler Barnes
who wins?(lets say a win for defense is to shut them out as they can't shoot at an empty net, while offnse has to score twice to win. 1 goal is a tie.)

but then they are playing offense...hence not "completely defensive"

The original question is simple, really.
The completely offensive team would win, because they'd be in the offensive zone 100% of the time. The completely defensive team would be in the defensive zone 100% of the time. The offensive team would be the only one that could score. UNLESS, somebody dumped the puck in to the neutral zone where nobody could go, then they would tie.
An even simpler question for you all? Is this a dumb thread? Yes.

A rather broad question. After all, a big piece of the puzzle would be the abilities of the players.

We could make so much money by setting up a stand at a fair and having people try figuring out what Circletalker will ramble about next.
Do you guys think that if birds flew in the ocean they'd be considered fish or birds...or would they simply create a new class of animals?

I think it's funny how I'm blamed for starting dumb threads and wasting time when I only post a portion of the posts. Before this, 20 responses and 3 were mine. If you don't want to post in a thread, then don't. O-townClown made a great post contributing to exactly what I was talking about. Why not comment about what the post is talking about instead of post about nothing?
And no George Blanda, with the way you described it the offense would pull their goalie and lose every time if it was a very unrealistic 100% offense like you described it.

That was perfect. Completely perfect. Do you think if a team played perfect Defense they'd beat a team that played perfect Offense?

Now they can't have a goalie? That's just stupid!
