Though this years team is not close to as good as it was last year, the team still has a few good players. One that particularly stands out is #16 Ty Jindra.
His extraordinary speed and strength makes him a very fun player to watch.
Also, #13 Nick Martell has shown promise at the point with a powerful shot. I look forward to seeing these skilled players in high school and beyond.

How's the coaching change working out? I know they had a pretty solid season two years ago with the B1s.

this team not even above average with no stand out players... took home the last place game in branerd against a "tough" river lakes team ...what was the score like a one goal game ... the day before river lakes was blown away by a solid eagan team 7-0 and a decent faribault team 10-0 your saying andover is good even decent ...dont think so

This team is just not talented enough to keep up. they have no returning A players (except a goalie) several players from b2 and c bantam last year...and some first year kids.

Yes they have struggled this year, but the team is mostly b2 or C players or first year bantams. The coaching change has not worked out very well. This team is decent for having inexperienced players and second-rate coaching.

What are the reasons that everyone thinks the coach is terrible?

How did this group of kids do a couple of years ago when they were together in pee wees?

Well dangla it seems that nobody likes him and if they dont like him then they dont have fun which means that they dont want to try or even play.

I think it is a bit of a shame that the kids don't like this coach?
Or maybe some of the players do like the coaching staff - who knows?
Many times if there are "a few bad apples" spreading "gossip" then things get spread incorrectly.
I am not saying that this IS or IS NOT the case here, as I don't know the entire situation.

What I do know is that the coach has TRIED to do numerous different things to motivate the players/team.
He has tried to be a hard ass and make them work, when they under perform.
He has tried to be a nice guy and "understand" that "the kids just wanna have fun."
He has tried to work on the "little successes" to motivate the team. (ie: let's have a good period, or let's go out and have a closer game THIS time then the last time we played XXX team, or let's try to focus on THIS aspect of the game today and try to be successful at THIS today.)

In my opinion if the kids don't have the "self-motivation" to WANT to get better and TRY to work hard, then it is very difficult for any coach to pull that out of a team. (this is just a blanket statement about athletes in general, not particularly about this team)

In a situation like this, team captains (leaders) need to step up and back the coach and buy into his philosophy. If the team leaders aren't steping up then I guarentee that the followers won't either. The coach has to make more of an effort to make sure the captains know that or find new captains.

One problem I have, is that most teams pick the best players to be captains whether they are leaders or not. This usually leads to trouble when things aren't going good.

Picked by coaches. Majority of the time they do pick the best players.

voted by players, captains should be looked up on by the players

The way that I have liked the most was the players picked the 3 players to be Captains. The Coach chose who wore the C and who wore the A's. That way both parties had a say in it.

Players know who they would follow into battle and the coach picks the one that he can trust the most to wear the C.

From what I hear you will be seeing Martell playing for Elk River High School.

Boo Hoo! the kid (or his parents) don't like the Bantam coach so now he isn't going to go to school in his hometown. I thought this was the reason that the state made the transfer rules so strict. What will probably happen is he won't like the Elk River coach and transfer to Holy Angels, then to Woodbury, then to Farmington, then to Junior Gold in Apple Valley where they finally will like their coach and rack up the points that he should be. I don't know the kid and I have nothing against him, just pissed about the transfer rule.
