I know it has been brought up before this year but now that the season has progresed, who are your top picks for Mr. Hockey 2008?

Tommy Odonnel-Jefferson, maybe not the winner but at least a finalist,in my opinion most underrated player. I think he has 20 goals so far and 30 points overall.
Aaron Ness is probably the favorite. I was also impressed with Jake Gardiner of Tonka. Both good offensive defencemen.

D - Jake Gardiner - Minnetonka (Wisconsin recruit)
D - Joe Gleason - Edina (North Dakota recruit)
F - Jake Johnson - Duluth Denfield
F - Justin Jokinen - Cloquet/Esko/Carlton
F - Zach Lehrke - Park Rapids

Here are my ten finalists (in no particular order):

Brown, Rosemount
Hendrickson, Burnsville
Gleason, Edina - WINNER
Student, Benilde
Youso, I. Falls
Gardiner, Minnetonka
Mueller, Roseville
O'Neill, Anoka
J. Johnson, Denfeld
Barnes, Burnsville
Ness, Roseau

I threw Ness in at the bottom as number 11 because I still don't know whether he's eligable. If he is, he WILL win. If not, I believe a defensemen will win, too many good one's out there.

If Ness is not eligable it will go to Joe Gleason.

After 3 years of D-men winning the award, do you think there might be a bias to crown a Forward? :?:

Youso, staying with the Gopher theme, going to go outstate, and to a forward.

I too think it will be a forward. It’s hard to give single A much love due to SOS. I like Mueller (Roseville) and Barnes (Burnsville) but it will depend upon whose team gets on TV in March and who is still putting up the numbers.

Then again, Aaron has been changing the landscape of high school hockey as I have come to know it. Who’s to say they don’t pick yet another blueliner and a junior/senior at that. Encouraging kids to do what Mr. Ness is doing this year (two years of high school in one year) is, in my humble opinion, the wrong precedent to set. I can only hope that those voting have that as a consideration.

Not enough thunder being made by mr Jaques himself. If he was being highly touted like Mr Ness than he would be up there. Popularity has a big to do with who wins this prestigeous award.

Jake Youso is very impressive, but so is Ness. This will be a fun race.

I disagree, this is not a race at all. It is merely a Mr. Hockey award.

It's not a race...it's really not even a question...

This years award will go to the top rated pro prospect...I haven't seen the scouting lists on who that might be...

Hope Lee takes care of "Ben Dover". I've searched the bored a little bit and he's only on here to stir the pot to a degree that not even circlewatcher can compare.

I deeply appreciate the amount of laughter you have just given me. It's been awhile since I've had a laugh as good as this.

I really would like to know why Mr. Tommy O'donnell is not on the lists. He is a great player and should be considered. In my opinion he is the most underrated player in the state.
