Tonight i watched in aw/horror as Aaron Ness completely dominated the Warroad Warriors for 2 periods until roseau clearly let up.
Im wondering if im not the only one who thinks he can make an instant impact in college hockey even though hes skipping his senior year?

He won't be dominant right away. But he'll be one of the top college players out there in due time.

He'll hold his own for his first year (as the Gophers get him lifting weights and get him as strong as his body allows). Then he will turn into a very very dominant college player. Anyone else agree with me that he should play forward at the next level?

This kid is insane. He is a great all around player, and will make his mark at the U. Just think how great he would be if he was like 6'3".

Yes, why? mostly size, he has all the tools to be a good fwd. But I've had limited viewing of him so it's just my opinion.

Keep in mind, that kids his age are still growing, and he's only a JR., if he breaks that 6'+ mark and puts on some bulk, he can do what ever he wants.

I agree and yes I think he should play forward because of his size is one reason but also because he is such a talented and skilled player that he could be a phenominal scorer someday. But yeah if he grows to be 6'1" 200 then maybe he should stay at D but he can put the puck away thats for sure!

The kids talent is undeniable. With a bit of muscle and maybe a few inches this kid could be the future.

Every time he was on the ice he controlled the play. Oh look one of the meanings of dominate is to control. WEIRD!

I can see how you would like to have him at forward but it wouldn't work out. Ness plays the role of the "quarterback". He makes all the plays and flashy passes from behind all of these players with the occasional QB sneak on his rushes. He may be small but he is the best playmaker I've seen this year and he wouldn't be doing these same things if he was playing forward.

Its true, he runs the show much like a QB. A bit like Vick minus the dogs

Anybody out there that remembers Larry Olimb from Warroad? Who later went on to play at the U? Ness reminds me of Olimb. Anyone else see this? Olimb hardly ever left the ice in High School.

I played against Olimb when they straight timed us in 87. Ness is quicker. Maybe Olimb have appeared quicker to if he played against "Tools" kid.

He will be 18 at the end of his junior year and would have been 19 when he graduated next year, so O-Town is correct.

The way I see it, the biggest differences between Ness and Ballard are about 50 miles, 7 years, 2 inches and 40 lbs. The 40 miles and 7 yrs are meaningless but the 2 inches and 40 lbs. aren't. If Ness doesn't grow, he may put up more points and play more games at the U, but he won't make it to 192 games in the NHL. Ness' career will be a great one but it will look more like Olimb's than Ballard's.

He will play 2 season's with the Goph's max -didn't you see the NHL CSS rankings? This is why he is accelerating his schooling to graduate this year - he get's an extra year of college hockey before his pro career starts.

Same for JS.

He would probably be on the first power play unit for the Gophs this year.

Alot of people (Gino) thought Neal Broten was too small - when you are as fast/smart as he is, size is not a factor.

there is no doubt ness will see the nhl. as for the comparison to olimb ness is faster larry was smarter hockey wise. larry didnt play pro because he lost the passion for the game. when it became work he said no..
