Well the Hill-Murray - White Bear Lake rivalry is heating up again this december. Im looking for another strong game from both teams. Just wondering what other people think.

This should be a scrappy game like last year. I like WB to rebound now that they've seen Hill's speed. This should be a lot closer than Saturday's game.

WB can win as long as long as they don't let HM get out to an early lead like last game.

bears looked good today, much faster than AHA. I then watched Hill v DE for first half of first period. Hill looked scary good. Hill by 2 or 3

if white bear starts the game strong, it should be much closer than last time

WBL had the same problem today that they had against Hill on Saturday. They can scrap and work (and do so very well) but they can't put the puck in the net when they get the chances. Plus goaltending wasn't a strength for WBL today. Hill has the ability to score with 3 lines and generates a lot of chances. Plus Phillippi is 6-0 all time against WBL, and I don't see that changing. This game is too soon after the last one for WBL. They will have a much better team in March, but they don't have enough to beat Hill on Friday.

HM 6
WBL 3

Owen Collette is going to have to play better for that to happen.

wbmd - sat nights goals were not owens fault, the defense is the one to blame. Hill had 5 goals and here is how they scored them, 2 breakaways, 2-1 goal, 3-1 goal, 5-3 pp goal. You cant blame your goalie for that. WBL is really lacking defense like past years, Galloway is just terrible out there he pinches too often and leaves his goalie and other D man to break up the odd man rush. It's not just galloway that does it either, it happends numerous times with almost every D man. It even happend a few times today, galloway pinched, 2 on 1 the other way, AHA scores a shorthanded goal. The only way WBL beats hill is if they stay out of the box and play better defense and even then its a long shot.
Imagine if they were able to keep Taylor Johnson and Jake Hansen..... it would be interesting to see how they would stack up against other teams with those workhorses on the ice in orange and black

I didn't blame him for Saturday night, just thought he looked down today. I still think WBL can beat Hill, they just need to keep it close and play with passion. Unfortunately there will be less atmosphere Friday night than there was last Sat. We'll see how things go...

And on an aside, Holy Angels looked as bad as I have ever seen them. I can't believe that is the same team that beat Hill twice last year...

The goalie is the last line of defense - he still has to stop them even if they are breakaways and such.

That's because they play Thursday night.

And they won't have enough on Thursday night when they actually play Hill.

lol wbmd, with what you just said claims that its a goalies fault if they lose in a shootout.... it's the defenses job to stop the odd man rushes and the breakaways. yes they happen its part of the game but the D just has to do a better job and not leave owen hung out to dry
wow he said friday instead of thursday stop beating it to death with a stick

I'm getting ahead of myself. One of them will be playing Friday night, but I can't figure out a way so that it can be against each other...

And more than likely, it will be Hill playing Friday night.

true, but its unfair for everything to be blamed on a goalie when their defense also plays poorly. white bear cant count on owen to save their butts every game.

Big win for the Pioneers as they beat WB twice within a week. A nice psychological "W" as they came back from a 2 goal deficit to rattle off 5 straight goals. Up 3-1, I'm wondering if the Bears thought, "hey, we can beat these guys". But as the game proceeded, Hill's response was,"umm, not tonight." This game should help HM realize a couple of things:

1). WB is a pretty solid team & not a team in turmoil. They seemed to be pulling together after their roster shake up & will likely factor in at the end.

2). Being down a couple of goals against your rival is no reason to panic. They kept plugging away & good things came.

The alumni say thanks for the wonderful Xmas gift of beating WB twice. Good luck tomorrow night.

I think Hill showed some confidence by keeping composure and thats big when it comes to these big rivalry games...nice when for hill...i think the hangover from the tartan loss is gone lol
