How many PW teams could the Edina Squirt A's beat?

Saw them over the weekend - destroying everyone they play. They call the dogs off in the first period and still end up winning by double figures to what are decent Squirt teams. It's a scary team.

maybe you should start by playing your own peewee A team and get an idea it wont be pretty. it looks like it would be a match but as soon as the size and strength factors in games over.

Watchdog-

I agree a Edina Squirt A vs. Edina Peewee A makes the most sense.

I agree with Watchdog.

I was watching a PW B1 team practice last week and the size of some of their players was stunning. The difference between PW and Squirt, physically, can be huge. The goalies looked like grown men. There were a few speedy skaters, but they were dwarfed by the bigger guys.

I know they say "speed kills" but after looking at some of those kids, I think size might kill more. Or at least, maim.

How many teams want a chance to maim anything from EDINA (cakeeaters)

Not Elk River's since they have beat the PW A team twice.

More than any overhyped Edina parent might think.
When this team can hit in the next few years and then puberty sets in the first line right wing is still 4 2 with the same speed...and the B team 3rd line kid is 5 8 and hits like a truck...things will change.

Always love the squirt superstar parents....no clue!!!

Jancze, I don't think anyone said these kids would be the best players after puberty. I've heard they are incredible, but not from parents. Just other people that have watched them.

The scores are pretty one-sided. It doesn't look like other Squirt teams in the area can beat them so they may as well take on a rumdum Pee Wee team.

Obviously their own association's A Pee Wee team would slaughter them.

Doesn't matter, they won't play older kids.

this post is as puzzling as our disgruntled Statman101 Loew saying he hates a group of youth hockey players, or 'should fighting be allowed in youth hockey'

Since they play in district 6, the squirt a team would not beat a district 6 Pee Wee B team, and would lose 5 to 10 players a game vs a district 6 C pee wee team.

This is not a relative subject. On a 3 on 3 rink, with 3 on 3 rules, you may have a competitive game vs a peewee b team for the 1st part of the game. Full ice with or without checking it would be lopsided. The wild card is the goalie. He would need to have his top game. And some teams just don't have that special goalie anymore. Each year they keep waiting for that goalie to step up, or return.

This is the type of post that makes me question if there is any value to message boards.

Regarding the kids handling the checking game:

Some of the kids play on the 96 machine, including one of the team's best and also smallest players. 96 machine played up at the 95 level in some tourney's last year. That would have been checking level. I understand they did just fine.

A tournament is one short weekend. Listen to what people say. They have been there, they know. The PeeWee season is a long one compared to the squirt season, and the kids have a lot of nights to go home and think about the hit they took, they aren't headed to the pool with their buddies. They can't lay in bed the next morning, they have to get up and go to school when they are stiff and sore and battered. They also have a lot of time to think about two or three more months of getting hit like that. If they are smart they will begin to hear footsteps, but, if they are to be good hockey players they will turn their fear into hockey smarts. It's a process and Squirts have barely begun it.

Also, know that no one has said the kids are not good hockey players, it's just that it takes time and there's a lot more hockey ahead of them. I hope they enjoy it.

This is one reason why, with 12 squirt teams, Edina should have 2 evenly balanced A teams. But CakeEater ego and arrogance rules. In this case its more about winning. But remember, they didn't get the result they wanted in the Fargo tourney last year.

Edina squirt A's are simply a product of numbers, not because there are 15 future Gophers on the squad. If you combined all the squirts in Jefferson, Kennedy, Shakopee and Prior Lake and had one tryout and one A team, you would have about the same numbers and a team that would be just as good.

I would be much more impressed with Edina's program if they could develop more of their kids and win fielding 2-3 A teams.

Sorry

FWIW, I don't have a kid on the team, I just happened to be in the same rink waiting for my daughter's team to leave the locker room. I was just impressed with the speed and teamwork of this team - it was a rhetorical question, didn't mean for everyone to get worked up about it.

You're right, their size would prevent them from having a lot of success, and hitting slows things down.

the squirts are no doubt a very skilled group. all im saying is size and strength will rule over skill. i see it all the time. roseau squirts were very good last year and alot of them are peewee a's now and are skilled players but their small. we play any teams with alot of 94's and size and strenght are winning those games. their is no doubt that if edina played some weeker peewee teams they could win those games theirs mite teams that could beat some squirt teams too. chances are if your peewee team is losing by 10 goals consistantly theirs squirt teams out their that would beat you by a goal or 2. so for my answer to the subject is not as many teams as you would think. the way to find the number is to look for an average peewee team that beats another team by ten goals. add those teams up across the state and your probley pretty close.

Please don't bring me into this one. You are wrong on my last name.

For the record I said throw a kid out of the game if he gets to rough and I was joking about Apple Valley. By the way I will apoligize to Burnsville Peewee A team they are better then Lakeville South. They just didn't play that well in the first 3 games of that tournament.

Edina's Squirt A team should see if Bloomington Tourney will allow them to play in the Peewee A tournament since they clearly are the best at the squirt level. Or just scrimmage the 96 fire and don't waste your time with the little associations.

Statsman...you really should take it easy, you're stuck on a group of 11 year olds for goodness sake...think about that for a second while you re-evaluate your place in this conversation...we're talking about 11 year olds.

Are you honestly a hockey parent or some disgruntled tool?

IF you weren't the latter, you'd look at both of these topics for what they are, kids playing hockey against kids....judging by the "I hate Burnsvilles 12 year olds" statement you also made, perhaps you have issues...

____on another note....off of work tomorrow, no school, my kids want to have a 3 on 2 full ice boys vs mom/dad/daughter at 8 am...are you kidding me, I'm sleeping in before my wife drags me to MOA, I've been avoiding that place since the summer...but I'm out of excuses, help boys!!

I'am not stuck on anything and I never said I hate Burnsville. I only responded to the conversation because I was brought into it. This conversation was about great 10-11year olds wanting to play against the best 12-13 year olds. Opinion is the key to all these conversations. I have a Right and so do you. If everyone agreed all the time that wouldn't be any fun. Disagree is fine with me. But please don't call me a Tool.

Good Luck with your hockey game and Merry X-mas.

Why do u hate the Fire so much? Obviously some people decide to take the options that are put in front of them.... WELCOME TO AMERICA.

Are u a bean counter by trade or just a parent sitting in the bleachers mad at everyone else..

If you let it go and it comes back on its own.....then you win.

GO ROSEMOUNT

Do you read the whole thing or do you pick out a couple of words put in a sentence. I said 95 fire belong in tournament and 96 fire don't. How do you turn that into I hate the fire. I really don't care if you don't get it. Why don't you go after Old timer for posting Apple Valley 7-0 over
shakopee 74 shots on goal. (in PWA scores) Now thats counting beans

I just want the fire to understand we have rules for a reason. If you think 96 fire belong in tournament then you will be back on here after they beat some Peewee A Team bragging about how statsman said they didn't belong. Allstar teams should win more then they lose.

Go Burnsville and ANY OLD RETIRED GUY LIVING IN BURNSVILLE.

4th Floor, 4th Floor , 4th Floor - A Bloody Mary always helps ease one into the Christmas shopping requirement.

I don't know what they still have up there besides Hooters, but it still has to beat floors 1,2,3

Good post. Why in the world doesn't an association with 160 squirts have at least 2 teams playing at the Squirt A level? Isn't it all about development at this age?

Also, anyone who thinks the Edina Squirt A could beat any Pee Wee Team in state is sorely mistaken. The difference between 10 and 12 year old kids is quantum---no matter how many magical Bernie clinics these squirts have attended

huh?

Did you read his post? It doesn't say they could beat "any" Pee Wee team. Obviously they could beat some. Knowing what I know, I think this includes some rumdum A teams.

He merely asked how many could they beat. They'd beat a number of the low B programs.
