frequency of movement from JGA to varsity

I saw one earlier post from a JG player that said once you play JG it is so much more fun that you will not go back to varsity. That may very well be true, but I'm curious........is there ever any movement from a younger JGA player over to varsity program as a junior or senior? I read in LPH about the Wesseys boys goalie that went to varsity at Minnehaha. Any others?

Or do the varsity coaches generally have such a low opinion of JRG that they don't even really look at you? Sounds like Edina may be one program that doesn't necessarily have this attitude. Any others?

well if one plays junior gold as a sophmore or junior a varsity coach will be more likely to pick a younger player the next season to build his team.

IGH Reds goalie Perri Girouard from last year was cut from Rosemount High School after playing a handful of varsity games his sophomore year. This year he is back on the varsity at Rosemount.

If you'll notice both examples so far of moving from JG to varsity involve goalies. I would imagine it would be easier for a goalie to improve considerably by playing the number of games JG has to offer rather than sitting on the bench as a back up and not getting experience. Just wondered how coaches see it.

yea, goalies are the most obvious choices, its happened to the duluth team 3 years in a row now. first, the goalie was rerecruited to play at denfeld, then the next was part of the hermantown undefeated season this year. lastly, this year, a goalie for duluth was offered split time again back at duluth marshall after being cut the year before, so he went and played junior gold. he declined.

fact of the matter, junior gold takes bad players and makes them real good real quick (for the most part)
