It's Like a Nightmare

Has it ever been this bad?

The Twins just finished below .500 for the first time in a while and it looks like they will lose Hunter to free agency and trade Santana.

The Vikings are gosh awful. They have one great player but thats it.

The TWolves cant win a game.

The Wild appear to have a solid squad but their star player cant stay healthy and they are in a slide.

Gopher football is pond scum.

Gopher hockey is off.

Gopher basketball is promising with Tubby but dont get too giddy just yet.

I cant remember a time whem things were so bad.

The reason that it is "Like a Nightmare" is because there is nothing to indicate it is going to change.

When I was a kid, the Twins and Vikings were new teams but they had very good young players. The NoStras were very competitive.

The Gophers were always good at all the major sports.

But now.... "Its Like a Nightmare"

so what team was it that was threatening to leave and people said if they did the Twin Cities would be like just like Omaha?

Well being an Omaha might be better right now because at least they don't have anyone dissappointing to the extent of our teams.

Yup, dogs and bitching is what its been about lately.

Which team will change this tide and be a ray of hope?

Who will make "The Nightmare" , a dream come true.

I dont see it on the horizon.

The only way this could get any worse is if the Catholics start loosing.....................naaaah.

It's been tough being a Boston fan lately too.

Yah right.

The Catholics out in Boston have had their cups runneth over.

We have never had that here.

Its never been so good out in Boston and never been so bad here.

I mean, here, "Its Like a Nightmare"

The debacle in GB was a real inspiration. Now, we can look forward to Saturday afternoon at the dome.

I think the Badgers are going to violate the Gophers in every possible capacity on Saturday.

If Brewster does survive long enough to coach a few seasons and get the team back to some form of bowl game, this coming Saturday will be rock bottom.

Not that I'm ever one to nit-pick, but I think a certain Catholic just lost the "bored" spelling bee.

AP has a torn ligament in his knee.

So things are lookin up.

When you have a bad team but have great young players setting records, you can still have an enjoyable season and look to the future.

So much for that dream. I'll tell yah, "Its Like a Nightmare"

I've known a few loose Catholics...

PB:

I think the glimmers of hope come from the two hockey teams.

The Wild have enough pieces. They need to get healthy. I'm not sure I'd trade the coaching staff for any other staff in the league. The front office, while frugal, had done a solid job of finding guys who play better than their salary. Kind of sounds like the Twins of years past, no?

The Gophers hockey team will also get there. The freshmen are well behind last year's class but are making progress. Wheeler is starting to look like the player we expected him to be. Fisher is much improved. Bariball continues to play big. They obviously need better play from Okposo and Frazee, but both are quite capable of delivering. They (hopefully) get Carman back. Maybe by January, we'll start consistently seeing more from Hoeffel and White. Kangas could be starting for a lot of programs. And it will pain you for me to say this ( ) but Donnie Hair-Doo is the right guy to get them from here to there. It's not about November ... it's about March.

p.s. From one SSP education to another .... "It is like a nightmare" ... hence "It's like a nightmare" (apostrophe!)

Well Panthers , I hope you are right but I am not so optimistic and here is why.

This groin thing with Gabby is getting ridiculous and for the coaches and fans "Its Like a Nightmare"

They are not a team that will go deep in the playoffs with out him. They may not make it with out him. In addition, when I go to a game, I want to see him.

As far as Gopher hockey goes, Donnie boy has been Mr January the last few seasons. His teams have folded like a lawn chair in the NCAA's. Losing those first round games the last couple of years was pretty wierd.

Once, hey it can happen to anybody. But twice in a row when you have the #1 ranked team. Well, "Its Like a Nightmare". It does not look good.

But I hope I am wrong because it will be an even longer winter if not.

As far as the punctuation goes, dont push it. I never took typing.

So I turn on Barreiro on KFAN yesterday afternoon and what's he talking about? The putrid state of sports in this town. Another thread stolen from the Cafe.

It should also be noted that the Vikes returned Troy Williamson's withheld paycheck after they found out about the upraor here. I don't believe that was mentioned yet.

Nightmare???

The Beavers are starting to click...
The Sioux are not on fire, yet...
The Bulldogs are winning...

The defending state champs in AA and A are small northern (non-catlicker) schools and have another shot at it.

Geez, everything seems okay in 'da reel' Minnesota. :D

Thats right ChrisK. The Red Star columns, talk radio, sports wrap shows, they all now are based on what apperas here first.

All of this palgarism is well, its...."Its Like a Nightmare"

Elliott, thats great for the 2 dozen or so people who give a rip up in flannel shirt heaven.

But for the rest of us who live in the asphalt jungel, we are in the midle of a bad run with no end in site.

Chrisk, Irishman's Shanty and the rest of the once popular "Fire Mason" gang have doomed Gopher Nation for an indeterminable amout of time.

Gopher Blog's hero is headed for the orphanage.

The Twins are in the process making their fans tear up instead of going on a tear.

The Twolves are well, the Twolves.

And the beloved precious Purple lost the only reason to watch them.

"Its Like a Nightmare"

For a guy who's favorite HS football team is in the state quarters, you sure seem down. Perhaps you are subliminally foreshadowing a CDH loss? :)

And, darn it ... fix those apostrophes. You're (apostrophe!) making all of us Kaposia Kids look bad.

P.S. Why does it not surprise me that Barreiro would take up this discussion. The monthly Emergency Broadcast Test is less whiny than his show.

Well Panthers, you have astutely pointed out that even though much of the local sports scene is bad, the Catholics continue to thrive.

We have discussed why this is in previous threads and the topic will no doubt be explored further as the season progresses.

I am looking forward to heading into the dome to watch da Rahdahs.

But the problem is... thats about all I have to look forward to.

The rest of it is well, I mean "It's Like a Nightmare"(there, happy)

As far as Barriero goes, it's hard to listen to sometimes. He doesn't do it as well as we do here.
