So why do we not give any possibility of hope to these teams. Their girls try hard and love hockey also. My guess is because they don't have coaches that cheat or recruit. What do you think?

I am not familiar with all of the teams that you identified in the topic heading but our daughter's team has played a number of them. I do agree they work hard, seem to enjoy their hockey (the ones that I am familiar with) but they simply do not have the depth that allows them to make that leap. This may change down the road as the "powerhouses" of the state do cycle as can be seen through looking through the longer history of boys' hockey. There are only so many teams that will be the section champs and ultimately state champs.
Play the game as best they can and enjoy it while they are there! In the long run, the win-loss stats are not what the girls will remember but the fun times they had playing!

If the win loss is not important, then why do we keep score? From what I know, winning IS fun. The depth thing goes as deep as girls hockey itself. I don't think you will find a 4 line team. A couple 3 line teams. 98% of the winners will be two line teams. Maybe we need to start bringing up some 7th graders.

I agree very much winning IS definitely fun but is not hopefully the ONLY time they are having fun as ultimately there will be only ONE state champ in each class. My personal sports memories do include a HS state championship in a sport, not hockey and it was fun but we also had fun the years we did not win state or in my other two HS sports where we never made it out of the regions.
So, hopefully the teams will have fun during the season playing at their best and learning the importance of teamwork, et al. making great memories along the way was my point.
In regard to depth, I was referring to depth of having those few critical players needed that are finishers, offensively and defensively, not four lines. I personally do not think for the vast majority of 7th graders they are ready to play on a varsity team. Majority of 7th graders are better served playing youth hockey. As with everything, there will be exceptions.

Any reports on these powerhouse teams. Can't even get a comment on their preseason scrimmages. I'm sure they can't be THAT bad.

Wait a minute, I'm pretty sure Wadena-LPGE recruits.

Benson, you are correct. After a review of the MSHSL roster, they have recruited a player from their grade school. Once again, the games must end before 8:00pm because that is the curfew for 7th graders not accompanied by a babysitter. Wadena-LP will be charged with a timeout. That would be a timeout in the corner, not a game timeout.

if anything, these teams are losing players to stronger hockey programs. which is adding to their problem of lack in numbers.

Just heard the EGF is already 2-0. This should send a message to the big three to put in some extra ice time.

Must be a misprint. Either that or they are playing a JV schedule. The only other option would be some "recruiting" violations in the off season.

Hey Hockeyperson, before you break your arm trying to pat yourself on the back, you might want to read a little deeper into your last game. Crookston allowed a total of 7 shots on goal with Brainerd. It looks to me like your goalie had one heck of a game. Your team allowed 33 shots for Brainerd. Keep winning but keep things in perspective!!

crookston also gave up 2 goals out of 7 shots. goaltending??? you have to put that into perspective to i suppose. technically not the greatest statistic right there.

If you think that egf is playin jv teams then crookston must be too. Because from what i hear brainerd went to crookston then to egf the next day to play. so where do these jv teams come from?

So what's the Greenwaves plan for Roseau? Might have to pull off an upset. More importantly, hand Crookston one in the loss column.
