Wayne Gretzky taped heel to toe.
End of discussion.

Amusing!
Why would you tape toe to heel?

Does it really matter how you tape your stick? If any player can notice a difference... they need to be in another league besides the MSHSL...

its heel to toe so there is spin on the puck when a shot is taken which causes the puck saucer. The tape peels back when the puck rolls from heel which makes this happens. At least that's how Bjugstad teaches it.

Everyone waxes their stick anyways. So it doesn't matter.

This is true. Wax makes this argument irrelevant.

It was a joke. It just made my point about heel to toe tape meaningless. The real question is what scores more goals, black or white tape?

Black or white... hmm... what did Gretzky use? Last time i checked he scored a few goals in his day.

I'm guessing if you did a study and had great goal scorers use white tape half the games and black tape half the games you wouldn't see any significant difference. The color of tape has no bearing on scoring goals.
heel to toe

I was always told black disguises the puck if you tape the entire blade.

Its all about the white tape. When you use white tape you put more velocity on the puck than with black tape. Clearly, white is the way to go.

I played goalie in high school and tape color makes no difference in whether the puck goes in or not.

Duh!! what a sucker!!

deception is part of the game...it was a poster, and you got sucked in!! white tape all the way!!
It's heel to toe!
In the old days black tape was that friction tape, and was very sticky on both sides so the edges of the tape wouldn't curl up and grip the puck, where as the white tape would.
And yeah, I've heard the hide the puck thing too, maybe.
Now all the tape is made the same so it doesn't really matter.
Wax seems to defeat the gripping effect of the tape, but IDK, maybe the wax gives enough grip, never cared for it myself, of course it didn't matter much on my straight blade Northland pro.

Right skate or left skate went on first? Right leg pad or left leg pad went on first?
Hockey, like a lot of sports have superstitious people. If you believe black tape will not work for you...........you are probably correct.
However, I do understand where you are coming from.
