I don't know if not having enough talent on the team is his fault.

This guy needs to Be Canned ASAP, What kind of Moron doesnt play your star guy being Adrian Peterson who had 10 carries for 100 yards going into the fourth, not playing AP possibly cost the Vikings this game.

I think this thread should be fired. Along with everyone in it (with the exception of breakout).

I've never been a fan of firing a coach in the middle of the season. I also think a coach needs to have three years to prove himself.
In this case however, I would drop that to two years. We will have to take it in the shorts this year but at the end of the season, if things don't drastically improve that three years should be dropped to two and go in another direction.

I voted no because I think you are stupid? Good reasoning...

Not yet...I don't think...
I just don't believe he has all the tools to compete...yet.
He didn't get to a head coaching position because he's stupid.(maybe he came cheap ?? IDK).
It could be that he can only run an offense that his players can understand? (which I think is lame because it is pro ball).
But he has no skilled player at the QB, pretty much young WR's. DB's are terrible at coverage.
But the not playing AP thing

that's not helping his cause, I just don't get that part.
He's gotta turn things around or he's gone...but if the conspiracy comes from the top he may have no say.

Tice was 9-7 and was fired, They brought in Childress, who is being out coached every week and is still there. As far as I can see Childress is surrounded with better players and has a realistic budget to work with. It's time for Childress to move on, him and his system just arn't a good fit for the NFL right now.

It All started with Denny Green!
Look how many people are head coaches / general managers on other NFL teams that where right under the Vikes nose.
Brought in Denny on the race card and he cleans house of his support staff to make himself look good! That’s in what he thinks is football knowledge ability, not looks!
Now we continue to suck!

There used to be a guy with the Vikings named Jeff Diamond, who kept Denny's ego somewhat in check. Once they got rid of Jeff Diamond Denny was allowed to clean house of people that he didn't like. As a result we had to rebuild when Tice took over.
Tice had a great network of friends and former teammates that helped him out in area's where he was weak and that allowed th Vikes to be somewhat respectable. When he was fired in such a classless manner ,Tices people turned there back on the Vikings.
Were stuck with Childress, who's lack of NFL experiance and contacts show in everything he touches. This is why we can only trade with the Eagles and why we have a one dimensional offense. because this is what our coaches network provides for us. It's a shame that the Vikings have turned into this but I don't see anything better as long as the current group is in charge.
NOT YET!!!

Isn't this childress' second year?
Wasn't Bud Grant 8-6 his second year and made the playoffs? I just don't see that happening this season with Childress.
The thing is, Childress may have the best offense in his imagination but it's not showing up on the field. Combine that with his somewhat abbrasive and secretive personality and you don't have a very good fit with the modern NFL. Let the guy coach out the season, take an early draft pick and start building from there with a new coach who has called plays before

He has a talented running back and a talented defensive line. Has some talent on the offensive line. He's got a weak secondary, apparently weak linebackers and no great quarterback options. In my opinion, the cupboard is half bare. Frankly, the front office should be examined.

yes we have a good d line running backs and dont forget about mckinnie birk and hutchinson on the o line. i dont think we can win off of just that.

I don't think he should be fired. I think he's a fine coach that has little talent at much needed position (QB). Last year his boring and predictable offense was a result of Brad Johnson's noodle arm and Tavaris Jackson being a moron.
Pretty much the only thing that upsets me about Childress is the obvious. A stat flashed across the TV early in the SECOND QUARTER, Adrian Peterson 10 carries for 102 yards. AP ends the game with something like 13 carries for 112 yards. With 20 carries, there is no doubt in my mind he would have had 180-200 yards. He wouldn't have been abused like Larry Johnson with 35-40 carries but would have had huge numbers. That play by Childress really bothered me.
So, to answer the question of whether Childress should be canned. I say no right now. Give him a little time to realize that Peterson really is that good and Chester doesn't hold a candle to him. The front office should see that Childress has called in plays that end up with a wide open receiver deep, but neither Jackson nor Holcomb can get them the ball. The problems with the Vikings lie in their lack of quarterback, not their lack of coaching.

I dont understand all the big concern about the Vikings this season.
What did we expect?
No NFL QB and no WRs.
How do you win with that?
If Childress thought he coud win with that, then he has a lot to learn.
Think about what this team would be like if AP was not an immediate top 5 RB.
Id like to see him get a QB in place with some ability and then a WR or 2 before deciding on his competence.
Right now, nobody could win with this lack of talent at skill positions.

I was just reviewing some of our discussions about last year's campaign, PB is right, nothing has changed.
I said it last year, "the Vikings are just one great kick returner away" from being 4-0.
Chiefs 13, Vikings 10
Lions 20, Vikings 17
Packers 23, Vikings 16

I think for most of us, there isn't a big concern. Look back at the early pages of the "Vikes Opening Day" thread, and you'll see most of us knew this was coming... most of us - not
all of us.

I was referring to Vikingland in general Govs and not the truly knowledgeable posters such as yourself.
The Rubes, as they are called on KFAN, are up in arms.
They painted their faces and bought Viking clothes; they have flags waiving from their car windows, spent $75 a ticket and dont understand how they could be 1-3 and not gettng any better. They want to fire Childress.
They dont have any skill at key positions on offense but many people are quite taken a back by the losing.
Actually, I think theyare doing pretty well considering they have no passing game.
AP and the defense has kept them in every game.
Thats all you can hope for right now.
If AP gets hurt.........
