Minnetonka: Schutt and Frawley

I have never even heard of any of those kids. Did they improve a lot over the summer or were they just not noticed in previous seasons?

the 1st year bantam from Apple Valley is supposed to be awesome.

No they just recently found the blog site and wanted to see what their names looked like in lights

These threads are the very reason that quite often you will see at any level a 2 on 1 or 3 on 2 break down because of bad angle shots. Happens all too often in the modern era of hockey. Hockey is a team game gentlemen and a whole lot more fun to play when you are using your team mates around you to open up space and score those great back door goals. Try it out this winter young guns, you just might like the game all that much more and tell dad at the dinner table that old school hockey is back in action here in the great state of hockey.

I have a feeling you're speaking on deaf ears. Very, very few old school players anymore.

Both schutt and frawley are very good players schutt from minnetonka made bantam a last year and was a star there frawley also made bantam a and has extreamly good skills but he is now not playing for minnetonka and playing for the fire i cant make any sence of this could some1 please tell me why he would wanna do this?

Maybe he left because his team wasn't going to be very good this year so he decided to play for the fire hoping that they would be better.

if your good enough to go on to play after high school i am sure the scouts will find you on your town team not go and play some on some AAA team all season long

It isn't the kids jumping ship ....it's the DAD's with too much time and money trying to play through their kids that are creating this mess. Most of which have never laced 'em up but they know what's best for little Johnny as a hockey player.

I don't understand why this is "jumping ship"??!! Maybe it's not about being discovered by the scouts or even playing high school or after high school. Maybe it's just about doing the best you can for yourself when an opportunity presents itself. It's so easy to blame the parents who are living their dreams through their children. But, maybe, just maybe, the players that "jump ship" have chosen to do so based on an informed decision. I know what's coming...the over-zealous parents make the final decision.

OK....your telling me 10 to 14 year old kids are making their own decision as to where they are going to play. YEAH RIGHT. Example: Over dinner Little 11 year old Danny says..."Dad I've weighed the options and feel to be the best that I can be; I am going to play for Team Elite Whatever. By the way it's going to cost you two months mortgage plus travel expenses. Get your checkbook out right now because it's my decision." Frankly, I would say a vast majority of the kids moving could care less where they play; the 10 year olds are probably more interested in what flavor juice box and what shaped chicken nuggets mom brought home from Cub; they are playing where Dad is MAKING and TAKING them to play.

Thank you...like I said...it is the over-zealous parents making the final decision...bulldozing their child into something they don't want to do and will make them miserable.

So what you are saying is that there is never any honest discussion between parents and players?? Really??? It sounds like it goes more like this...Example: Over dinner with little Danny. You have and opportunity to play with Team Elite Whatever. Based on the information we have from talking with other Team Elite Whatever people and reading threads on the Youth Hockey Forum, everyone will ridicule you and your family, you will be blacklisted from your association and your association is the only place that can provide you quality "development", a sense of team and community and lasting friendships.

Will out work anyone hands down, first class kid all the way. One of the best kids I have ever had the pleasure of coaching. He will do big things on and off the ice. Look for him in the future at Hill.

What about this conversation.
A 11 or 12 year old kid comes up and says Dad I really want to play for the Fire. My best friend on my summer team is playing for them this year and he wants me to as well. I really want to Dad! What about your friends from the association? I would rather play with my best my friend.

If you think a kid can't make a choice like that you were either a very insecure kid, had overly demanding parents, or just not very bright.

I raised my kids to be able to make that type of decision. That doesn't mean I won't shoot it down if it is not feasible.

Funny how we give kids credit for making the choice to play 3 sports but they don't get credit for picking the team they want to play for. HMMMMMMMM
