I'll agree with you on the better head coaching part, but to say Barnes is a much better player is a little bold. Oliver has a much bigger upside than Barnes. FYI...Oliver has very good coaching, just not his head coach. I believe his father is a very good motivator, just not very good at the X's and O's of hockey. That's Billy's job. My vote is for Nick. I'm looking for a pretty huge season from this kid.warrior4 wrote:Tyler Barnes is much better - Better player with better coaching
He should've made it. They couldn't pick every kid from the Rams.easton stud wrote:Barnes made all state tourny team did oliver?
Oliver won a State Championship. Did Barnes????easton stud wrote:Barnes made all state tourny team did oliver?
I think the tie breaker should be how they did in the Checkbook (Chowder) Cup.breakout wrote:This may go right to the wire!
Not a very good arguement because the Lake conference was terrible last year. In addition, Burnsville was 2-6 against non-conference opponents and that includes the wins against Holy Angels and Blaine in the sectionals and State Tournament. They went 1-2 in the State Tournament. Lake conference will be much better this year. Oliver will increase his productivity and Barnes will struggle to score 54 points again.welleman wrote:DID EVERYBODY FORGET ABOUT BARNES PERFORMANCE AT LAST YEARS STATE TOURNEY? LOUIE NANNE COULD NOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HIM. BARNES IS A GAMER AND PLAYS HIS BEST HOCKEY IN THE BIGGEST GAMES. HE ALSO GOES UP AGAINST BETTER COMPETITION NIGHT AFTER NIGHT AND GETS MY VOTE OVER OLIVER.
Not so true. Many teams just matched top lines with that combo. And many top lines are not the top checking line.welleman wrote:You wouldnt happen to live in Roseau would you? Even in a down year I would argue the Lake provides better competition....but if you don't like that one, i have a million more....Look at last years stats....Oliver finished 8th on his own team in scoring....not that he wasn't deserving of much defensive attention....but they couldnt afford too as the Rams had too many other snipers capable of finding the back of the net. The Barnes/Hendrickson line always faced the opponents best checking line. Barnes had guys draped all over him all year long and still managed to put up great numbers. Just an observation from a neutral observer.
Last I checked Hockey was a team sport and not an individual one. Oliver did not win the title his team did - and it was a great season for the team. Player vs. Player- my vote is for Barnes.Indians forever wrote:Oliver won a State Championship. Did Barnes????easton stud wrote:Barnes made all state tourny team did oliver?
Barnes didnt have guys drapped on him at all. He hardly scored at all early in the first half of the season. Oliver is not afraid of the defensive zone either. Much more complete player with a MUCH brighter future.boblee wrote:Not so true. Many teams just matched top lines with that combo. Lebron beat both Shaquille O'Neal and Derek Jeter in the ESPN "Who's Now".rbkhockey wrote:if this whos now is anything like the ESPN way of whos now then winning does matter. thats why tiger beat lebron james. hes won 13 majors and lebron hasnt won anything.
I didn't realize that. Maybe it does have to do with winning. Maybe it has to do with that buzz that gravitates your way when you do win.highschoolhockeyfan wrote:yea but if you look at the voting noone got with in 20% of tiger
