Which current MN HS hockey player is more now?

2) Nick Oliver (Roseau)
3) Tyler Barnes (Burnsville)

I'll agree with you on the better head coaching part, but to say Barnes is a much better player is a little bold. Oliver has a much bigger upside than Barnes. FYI...Oliver has very good coaching, just not his head coach. I believe his father is a very good motivator, just not very good at the X's and O's of hockey. That's Billy's job. My vote is for Nick. I'm looking for a pretty huge season from this kid.

This is quite the interesting matchup. Tyler Barnes is overshadowed by teammate Jake hendrickson and goaltender randy Jonsons steller play at the state tournament. To be honest the whole scott oliver coaching things going on up in roseau brought alot of hype and attention to nick oliver. and being on a state championship team this past year doesnt hurt either. with all the scott oliver questions going on people started questioning what nick was gunna do. whether ann arbor or roseau or move where his father was going to teach. I feel bad for barnes on this becase oliver is good don get me wrong but all his hype has been brought about becasue of his father. but once again hype is hype, Oliver moves on in a tight one.

Nick Oliver is on the U17 Team heading for the Czech Republic to play in the 5 Nations Tournament. Tyler Barnes had a great State Tournament run.

Nick has college interest..........not sure if Barnes does. Oliver will be a Junior, Barnes a Senior.

I am going with Oliver on this.

Not a very good arguement because the Lake conference was terrible last year. In addition, Burnsville was 2-6 against non-conference opponents and that includes the wins against Holy Angels and Blaine in the sectionals and State Tournament. They went 1-2 in the State Tournament. Lake conference will be much better this year. Oliver will increase his productivity and Barnes will struggle to score 54 points again.

You wouldnt happen to live in Roseau would you? Even in a down year I would argue the Lake provides better competition....but if you don't like that one, i have a million more....Look at last years stats....Oliver finished 8th on his own team in scoring....not that he wasn't deserving of much defensive attention....but they couldnt afford too as the Rams had too many other snipers capable of finding the back of the net. The Barnes/Hendrickson line always faced the opponents best checking line. Barnes had guys draped all over him all year long and still managed to put up great numbers. Just an observation from a neutral observer.

Not so true. Many teams just matched top lines with that combo. And many top lines are not the top checking line.

Whether Barnes is going up against the top line or the top checking line....my point is If I'm the other coach I tell my guys before the game that they better know where Barnes is at all times....I don't think I say the same about Oliver...not because he isnt a good player, but only because the Rams have so much firepower.

Last I checked Hockey was a team sport and not an individual one. Oliver did not win the title his team did - and it was a great season for the team. Player vs. Player- my vote is for Barnes.

Barnes didnt have guys drapped on him at all. He hardly scored at all early in the first half of the season. Oliver is not afraid of the defensive zone either. Much more complete player with a MUCH brighter future.

if this whos now is anything like the ESPN way of whos now then winning does matter. thats why tiger beat lebron james. hes won 13 majors and lebron hasnt won anything. oliver won a state tournament and barnes got 4th.

I believe the reference is to players.........not teams.

Lebron beat both Shaquille O'Neal and Derek Jeter in the ESPN "Who's Now".
