NCAA D1 Football Championship

I have always thought having one game was ridiculous. I talked to some people who really liked it. But a day or two ago they had a thing on PTI and another show about how D1 football should start using a bracket. I'm not going to write an essay about it, but it just makes sense. There isn't another major sport or division in college sports that doesn't use a bracket. We had a team this year (Boise State) who didn't lose a single game of the season or their postseason game. Were they the best team? Who knows? They were the only undefeated team. But were they crowned? No.

In a 4 team bracket they wouldn't even have a shot. It should be an 8 or 16 team bracket in my opinion. Teams could still have their bowl games in a possible system and the winners just go on. The players get a month rest then play one game. Why not have games every weekend? People say they need rest. Well, the top players are going on to play in the NFL, they need to be ready for that sort of thing.

Also, one thing that was commented on is that the way it's done now every game matters, the 1st game is just as important as the last. Well, it's not even that way now. If two teams are 11-1 and one lost their last game but the other lost their first, the one who lost their first is looked at as better. In addition, only 8 or 16 teams would still make it, it's not like it would be easy to get in.

I'm sure no one's been posting because I started the thread. But what do people think? Many of you always use the "hockey's different" line while D1 football has been using the "football's different" line for years. Should it stay this way? Is controversy good like we always have where only team teams have a chance? If they did that in the NFL, how would it go over? SuperBowl would've been much different this year...

Ya think? :?
This is the going to be the same circling discussion as the "Multiple classes"
Cut and paste all the info from there, over here, and it's done.
I'm starting to think the Watcher is a virus that keeps doing pop-ups.

What are you talking about? How does this have anything to do with the Multiple Classes thread? It isn't the same at all.

I'll never understand why it matters who makes certain comments. If any that have posted on this thread started it it would probably be 4 pages long with debate by now. People have selected answers on the poll, so people are interested.

There have been 98 views and only six votes. That tells me something. What does it tell you?

Sometimes people lose interest in the messenger because of past history.

I understand why it matters. Maybe people are tired of your attitude?

Yeah, no one does, which is why there's always controversy.

And even so, you are putting the two teams up against each other who were perfect basically all season. Shouldn't it be the team you have at the end of the season? What if you have 4 losses because your key player was out for 4 games in the beginning of the season, or other things like that? Relating it to the NFL, Indianapolis wouldn't have been playing this year.

There's an old Steve Martin joke about timing.....

It's July, not 1 college team has even started practice yet. College football is just about the farthest thing from my mind right now and college football ranks a very close second to high school hockey in my personal pecking order. Posting a poll about something that really won't matter until the end of October at the earliest won't generate much interest.

Timing?

When every discussion turns into a black hole of circular logic, timing isn't the issue.

When certain posters are so dense they bend light, timing isn't the issue.

The apathy isn't about the subject.

Whoa, sorry. Just bringing up what everyone on ESPN/ESPN2 was talking about for about a week and they had some pretty heated conversations on there. Most on here are quite opinionated, so I thought we'd get something started and discuss it. Sorry if you're not interested.

But don't try to convince me that the only time to talk about things is while they are taking place, before and after are great times when people talk about things and discuss would should/should've happened.

Good call dangla. I love baseball, but it's all that's on and it's on all the time. The rest of the year you basically have three sports to choose from.

College football?? is it that late already?

I'm waiting for the EPL to start again and I'm working on my fantasy team (have to have Drogba) , but I've got the feeling I am very alone in that thought.....hello? is there anyone out there?

I will guarantee that OK will not win the national championship no matter how many you have in the brackets
