I would say yes to two of those teams (Roseau & Edina). I don't think Cottage Grove has what it takes to be in that elite company

Edina might have an edge on the other two, but I don't see another team in that top tier. Besides the Dragons and Wolfpack, do you two or anyone else see another team that can compare with the tres verde?

Neut, I hate to do this............but, how about Centennial ( )? Didn't the Centennial lads beat the Edina boys in the Bantam A State Championship a few years back? Got to believe they are in that top tier.

Centennial falls into maybe best of the rest.

Edina & Roseau have the potential to be special next year. Hill will throw together another solid club that should be able to compete with most everyone in the state. I put them a notch below the other two. Centennial's grass looks alot "greener" now that they have been placed in someone else's back yard.

Thats mid-season form right there Sparlimb!

I think Cent is breathing a whole lot easier with their relocation. History has shown there are really only 2 teams in this section and neither reside in Lino Lakes. Cent typically has been trying to hunt down WB/HM & most often were sent home early & disappointed. They will now be the hunted & it will be fun watching how they handle this. HM/WB will continue meeting in classic section finals and Cent will be given a better opportunity participate in the show rather than watching it. You were given a gift now boys, don't choke.

After going 1-4 in the last 2 state tournaments, its interesting that a Hill fan is giving others advice about choking.

This coming from a team that lost in the section semis?? Ya lose a little respect when you couldn't do what another team did, which was go to state. You should feel better because this way you get to avoid losing to WB, something we just don't do. So enjoy your new section. Start making reservations downtown St. Paul, rejoice in knowing you won't have to see another season ended short of the dream....that is unless you choke.

Really? Does someone need to give you a history lesson here about Hill vs. WB? By history, I mean going back more than one or two seasons.

One more thing; Centennial's state championship is 13 years more recent than Hill's. And they did it with homegrown talent, yet another distinction.

Rule #1; know thy stuff before thy post, or someone with actual knowledge will come along to correct you.

Cent feels comfortable taking shots at Hill? Who's next, Edina...Roseau? Which snapshot do you want...recent or historical? Either way, Cent really can't compare. I always get a kick out of people talking smack about programs they cannot beat. A team loses in the section semis and turns around and fires a shot at the section champion? Umm, ok..?

As far as homegrown talent, you keep doing it your way, we'll keep doing it ours, and we'll keep playing in the state tournament and you will keep watching us. You feel good about your situation & we'll feel good about ours. Everyone wins!

As for a lesson about WB/HM hockey, Lee you could never give me a lesson about these two programs. Having been apart of it for over 30 yrs, I seriously doubt you could bring more " actual knowledge" about this than myself. Hill people have far more respect for WB then we ever did/will for Cent. Rule #2-Beat thy team & gain our respect, otherwise, remain quiet.

I think Hill has all the tools to go all the way.

You guys have never lost to Centennial in the playoffs? Oh, okay.

Your team has hardly been a smashing success story in recent years. Using your Rule #2, you need to prop the following teams; Rochester Century, Grand Rapids, North St Paul (ouch!), Centennial, White Bear Lake. Since you know so much about HM history, you know what those teams have in common.

Maybe you should remain quiet until they do something. A lotta yapping from certain Pioneer fans just because they've made it to state the past two seasons. Keep patting yourselves on the back.

My point (the one you obviously missed on my prior post) was that your team hasn't accomplished anything more than the Cougars have recently. 1991 keeps getting more and more distant, doesn't it?

Major props to Century & Rapids, they made it to State & beat Hill when it counted. Funny, those people never took shots at Hill...classy. But Cent?...and now East fans? Seriously?? I thought Tartan fans had the market cornered on this department.

Bottom line is HM will put it's recent & past history of success up against Cent (talking about program wins, section titles, state tourney appearances, state titles & head to head games with Cent) any day. Because of this, Cent should be happy they were slid out of a section where HM & WB have dominated over the past several decades...you do realize this don't you??

As for yappin about getting to state the past fews years, Lee, sounds like sour grapes.

We all know you're still sore because of who Hill beat in 1991. Biggest comeback in state finals history as I recall.

Granted, everything else you've said is spot on. Centennial's state champions were the best champion this century in my opinion. I'd take them over Holy Angels and even this year's Roseau team. My Hill team went through a dry period in the late 90's and early 00's, and they are starting to grow in strength again. Looking for another strong Hill team this year and sitting with Neutron for 2 straight games at the section finals. This year I hope we can both be happy...

Heh. I was wondering who would bring that game up. Funny, rewatching that game isn't tough. Tough watching is the '96 game against Apple Valley or the '97 game against Edina. Now those were tough losses to stomach. Even while converting those to DVD, all I could do was edit out the commercials, burn the DVD and put 'em away. Watching them was out of the question. You'd think that after all this time.....

I'm looking forward to it Sparlimb. Its always nice to sit and chat with the classier and more knowledgable of the Hill fans.

Hill Murray (clouds part) will have a solid team because they reload with talent every year. Not because of superior coaching, or their rich hockey tradition, or because they have better kids than other schools. The pearly gates are not located near Larpenteur and Century.
