I've heard rumors that while he is going to the U of M, Jake Youso will be drafted by the NHL in the 2007 draft. Just wondering if anyone else has heard likewise.

He's not eligible for this year's draft. He'll likely get drafted in 2008.

If the Youso kid is 18 yrs old he is automatically put in the NHL draft.

Everyone is put in the draft when you turn 18, doesn't matter if you are the worse player in the world, your 18 your name is in the list, just at the very end.

He's not 18. Like Gopherblog said, he's not draft eligible this year. If he continues to improve he may be an early round pick next year.

This kid appears to be the real deal. Nice player with good size, speed and skill.

You should know your facts before you post. The cut off for the draft is September 15th. So this year, any player born before September 15th of 1989, is eligible to be drafted. If a kid's birthday is 9-16-1989 or later, they will be eligible the following year (2008).

The NHL may have to make an exception next year when the next wonderkid is available. John Tavares has a birthdate of 9-20-1990 just making him short of being next years #1 pick (he is comparable to Sidney Crosby for those of you who don't know who he is). Tavares put up 72 goals, 62 assist, 134 points (in 67 games) as a 16 year old this season playing against mostly 18 to 20 year olds).

The NHL will have to make a decision on whether to amend the rules to allow Tavares to be drafted or for him to spend another year playing major juniors.

You can't leave a team you don't even play for yet. Also, I bet your house that he doesn't play 4 years at the U.

Having seen him play, I won't acccept your bet.
