Suspensions

I have heard of a few players here that have gotten minors in the spring and this summer already.. so I'm wondering. I've heard that there is a new rule about only sitting out sports you have lettered in to prevent athletes from joining a different sport to serve the suspension. I'm not really up to date on this stuff, can somebody help me out?
