Beckham to Minnesota?

According to
this article, it looks like the LA Galaxy will be playing a game at the Dome this fall, so it would stand to reason that David Beckham would be playing.
Not too many people on this board got too excited about him coming to the States in the first place... Does anybody care about this?

I have appreciation for the sport of soccer. I just don't have much appreciation for American Professional soccer.

Is this the reason that Pro soccer in the US will never catch on? HS and college soccer don't have the appeal that other sports such as bball & fball do?

Outdoor lacrosse is booming as the spring/summer sport of choice. Girls too.

Empire, US pro soccer doesn't get much appreciation because it's simply not that great. If I sit down and watch European Pro Soccer, then watch the US game, there is an obvious difference.
I'd rather watch a bad JV High School baseball game than a good US pro soccer game live any day of the week.
I do, however, love watching lacrosse.

Wouldn't the relative lack of coverage be a result of the lack of interest? The NASL did it right in America... they made it more about what was happening off and around the game, rather than the game itself. If elite level soccer is ever going to catch on here, they're going to have to think outside the pitch (I think that's what they call the field, isn't it?).
And honestly, I have to think that if ESPN didn't own the rights to the NBA, we wouldn't be seeing nearly as much of that turd either. I don't think college basketball will ever die, but outside of the elite teams in the NBA, nobody gives a crap. I'd rather watch soccer than that garbage.

In all three games, the talents of many individuals is certainly admirable,....but in all three there is someting to be desired.
Soccer is not a game,....is not a contest,.....and not a competition. Soccer is recreation. It is like watching kids play frizbee, or hackysack. Frankly, watching soccer is probably about as entertaining as it would be to watch a family campout (actually, the campout may be more entertaining).
NBA basketball is much closer to the entertainment (or junk) of the WWF, than a competition, anymore. Personally, I would much rather watch the Harlem Globetrotters,.....at least it is good, clean fun. I don't know if the league will ever figure it out, but people may be getting a little tired of the thugs,....and the NFL is not that far behind, for that matter.
Actually, fanatasy football probably provides the most support for the NFL,.... more than most people may realize,.....or the league officials willing to admit.
