Same issue last weekend too @ Stick-it. Unfortunate, but understandable!

Looking at the schedules I found it a little bit strange that there are a number of non-Minnesota teams playing in the U14 and U 12 divisions, but none in the U16 or U19. Other than coincidence do you think there is any reason for this? Also the U16's have the fewest number of teams, I suppose probably because so many high school girls want to "play up" to U19 (?).

I would say yes to all of this.

Consideration I have for non-MN teams is maybe they go where they can find competition and also just for the "fun" of travel? I hear this cited when we send multiple MN teams to Chicago just to play each other more often than not!

As far as the limited number of teams in U16 I had heard that Showcase lost some ice at MN Made that they were counting on which limited the number of girls and boys teams that they could take. This might have affected the U16 level. I have heard that there were a number of teams that had applied and were left out on the boys and girls side.

Shows you what I know! I'm stunned that it would be that difficult to find ice though. Is there really a shortage?

I don't know GHS. The Wild Tournament people are also claiming that they don't have enough ice and they have decided not to sponsor a U16 level in their tournament. Personally I think that lack of ice is a convenient excuse but I don't know the real reason for the lack of U16 opportunities. I suppose that there will be even more teams playing U19 as a result.

The Wild U16 are divided into two teams. Tonight it was:

Icecats U16 - 7
MN Wild White - 1

I believe on the other rink it was:

Schwans U16 - 2
MN Wild Gold - 1

I think that the Wild U16 Gold is the U16 team from last year and the U16 White is the U14 team from last year, both probably with some new faces.

Blues score is wrong - it was 5-1. Blues managed to score on themselves again at the end as they did against IceCats19 Burg team last week...

I watched the two games at Richfield on Thursday night and was really impressed with the play. The passing and skating was very impressive. I enjoyed it and wished I was working more this weekend.

I have to say that I was impressed too. I was there as well. WOW.

Tonight the St. Croix Saints played an outstanding game against the Blues. Blues came out on top 3-1 but not until mid-third period did the score change from 1-1. I heard Walser Red won 1-0 vs So Heat. I don't know any of the other scores unfortunately. Many games are tomorrow at Wakota for the U19 bracket.

Blues W 1-0 against Pink Panthers. I think I heard 3-1 W for IceCats over Walser White and Walser Blue 3-2 W over Walser Red. Not sure on other games and there are more now/tonight I believe...

Walser Blue/Extreme tied I believe this AM as did IceCats/Blues (2-2). Both were very good games. IceCats win goal differential tie breaker over Blues so I think it's East Side Eagles/IceCats at 3:40 Wakota 1 for Championship and Walser Blue/Blues at 3:10 Wakota 1 for 3rd...

IceCats win 4-1 over Eagles for 1st, game was 1-1 entering the third? Walser Blue beats Blues 3-1 for 3rd.

I watched first two periods of Icecats - Eagles. 1-1. First period, the eagles goalie stood on her head to keep them in the game. Second period was pretty even. Didn't see the third. Always get a kick out of fans comments about the Eagles uniforms. They come out in mismatched green jerseys with some of the numbers in duct tape. Their opponents always look better from a uniform standpoint; their jerseys actually match usually with names on the back. But the eagles team usually gives everyone a pretty decent game. And the players always seem to have a good time playing together.

I heard one of the goalies for the Eagles was a Jondal from Wisc., though I also heard she made a transfer to the metro area?
