65 Team State Tournament for class AA

Why don't they just have a 65 team Tournament for the state AA championship. Every other team that doesn't qualify can play for the A championship.

Divide the top 64 state into 4 seperate regions then rank them all. Have a play in game for two teams as well.

The first two rounds they could just have wall to wall coverage of the games over three days thursday thru saturday. Have those at the sectional sites. They don't have to televise the third round. The Quarters, Semis, and State Championship can be televised and held at the Xcel Energy Center as well.

This would be the tier system, which they tried and didn't work. As you can see by the the section realignments, they don't care about talent. They care about an equal representation of the state at the tourny. Having only 64 teams wouldn't be horrible, but they currently have have a 64 team AA tourny; it starts with the AA section quarterfinals and continues until the state finals.

The only problem I saw was that there are games to be played at Ridder...Isn't that for girls?

Oh I forgot, gender equity......I guess the boys could play there.

boblee JW what in the PS2? that matches the brackets?? looks good but how can teams like duluth, hermantown cloquet be in a south bracket, teams like Red wing, Anoka North bracket end up traveling all the way to fargo to play tournament games, and TRF in the east playing down in st. paul why not switch red wing and trf, ya somtimes 3-4 of the best teams in state might be in 1 region but thats how it works, i dunno just looks to me like alot of the teams are just thrown in because of their rankings to make a good fit.

This would be the sweetest ever..........

Have a 64 team tournament for both classes, just like basketball, have 4 regionals with 16 teams.

Doing it this way would mean that 9 teams would be left out of the AA tournament, (There is currently 73 programs)

In addition, 16 teams would be left out of the A tournament (There is currently 80 programs in there)

All coaches that have teams playing get together and seed the teams 1-16 in each regional.

The higher seed would have home ice until 4 teams were left in each regional they would play at one location. The winner of each regional would play a "frozen four" at the Xcel. Both A and AA would play the same weekend at the Xcel

They would have to do this at the beginning of summer because I don't think they'd be able to miss a month+ of school. And for us fans, we wouldn't be able to miss a month+ of work. Wouldn't that be nice if we could though? =P~ \:D/

You could simply extend the season another month and play the games like you do regular season games after school (play one or two games a week) Then the Xcel part of it would be played how it normally is.

I don't know what kind of dice you are using bob, Edina gets beat by Denfeld? New Prague beats Woodbury? Century gets beat by Rosemount?

Then again the dice rolls different than how the puck drops.

Have you seen the NCAA regionals? Teams aren't put geographically, it is based on their seed. The top #1 seed then has the worst #2 seed in their region and it keeps going like that.

It is set up like the NCAA Bball tourny. 1 plays 64, 2 played 63, etc. That is why you have some teams with longer travels. I determined each bracket location by the number one seed. The only thing I didn't do was move teams around to make them closer to home like the NCAA will do sometimes.

For times...

One weekend you have a Thurs-Sat of the round of 64, 32 and sweet 16.

The next weekend is the "Elite 8" which is the state tournament. It wouldn't be that much extra time.

Great Idea...

Very Interesting...

Why not make your Tourney a Round Robin...

Keep working on this, boblee....

With the weather always seeming to be an issue, spring sports games generally don't start until the 1st or 2nd weekend of april
