From what I've read the following teams are heading to Alexandria for the Bantam A State Tournament.

Bemidji
Roseau
Centenial
Duluth East
Eden Prairie
Wayzata
Rochester or Highland/Central
Lakeville South or White Bear Lake

EP - Size, talent and goaltending and, on paper, should win. But, as we all know, the game is played on the ice.
Duluth East - If goaltender is hot DE will be tough?
Centenial - Can Lovick have a repeat performance from last year?
Roseau - My opinion, not much hope to take home the trophy.
Bemidji - Darkhorse and may upset some overconfident teams.
Wayzata - Plays hot and cold. If they're hot thet will contend.
Rochester - My bet to beat Highland and will have confidence at State.
Lakeville / WBL - Pick-um. May go into overtime until Tuesday and will be too tired at State to contend.

Lakeville / WBL

Centennial has one line and can be shut down. Either Rochester, E.P. or Wayzata will win as I know Wayzata and Rochester have beaten E.P. who seems to be the best team in state.

It seems that every year Centennial proves themselves right around the State Tournament. I would consider EP to be the favorites, but they have to lose sometime, and I see it coming in the State Tournament. Wayzata on the other hand just lacks the talent to win the state tournament. Without their whole high school at the game, and home ice advantage, I don't see them snatching the gold. Rochester plays a great game of defense, but if a team is hungry enough, especially in state, you can beat them. At this time of year goaltending plays a key role. If Centennial's goalie can stand on his head for 3 games I favor them to be the champs. If Meyers plays like he did in regions, then they may take the gold, but anything could happen.

im sorry but the bears should never have gotten to the state tourney.. theyve had an average season losing to every good team they play.

the lost to woodbury three times
5-2
3-2
and
8-1

Can't say they don't belong

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. I think with this new format of rotating regionals, you can't say anyone who made it didn't belong. Could the final in college basketball be Duke and North Carolina every year? No, because even though you are picked on paper, you still have to go out and get it done. The Bears do belong there, they play a good brand of hockey and a style that is perfected come playoff time. That is a program that plays all the top teams every year and they are quite respected around the state. They play in a pretty tough district (2), with the likes of Stillwater, Tartan and Mounds View. You say Woodbury beat them, well believe it or not, Woodbury is a pretty good program too. Guess what, Woodbury doesn't make it out of districts or they could have beaten WBL again for a chance to get to the state tournament. Everyone who is there belongs, and it is a great tournament field. Should be a great tournament to watch.

By the way, if we went strictly by rankings, Burnsville wouldn't be playing today!

Not like it matters much but little off there on the scores snipe0014? the losses were 4-3, 3-2, 8-1 and then we beat them 4-2 and tied them 3-3....just saying.

yeah ill agree we didnt have the best season but that really doesnt matter, we started to pick it up when it counts..in districs..played well and got to the south region and had a couple of mishaps against como but we pulled it out n played good against lakeville to get to state..we just decided to play at the right time...

no doubt.. we are the underdog. noone thought we would be in state this year let alone get outta district. but hopefully we can keep it going and pull out a win vs. centennial

Also, I agree that WBL isn't a top 8 team in the state. Probably not a top 15 team, but its the same as the AHA story: You gotta play when it counts. From the facts on this board it shows just that, they did all they could to get into March and thats where they are.
