The only surprise here is that Tartan lost to NSP. I don't think the fact that there was a brawl involving Tartan should surprise anybody at this point - they have just completely lost control of their season. Remember, Wood got thrown out of their game a week ago for throwing a punch with his blocker. This is a tremendous downward spiral they're on.
On the plus side, if they keep it up, my Govs could conceivably slip into the #3 seed in 2AA! I seriously doubt it, but who knows...

Uh-oh... Garret Larson got two games? That's going to give him a lot more time to post here. Ugh.
Where are their coaches? I mean honestly. This will happen occasionally, but for this kind of thing to happen twice in three games is ridiculous. They clearly learned nothing from the St. Thomas game.

what caused the tilt? how had the officiating been? if it has been lax sometimes that is a contributing factor. not a good excuse, but sometimes it is the reality.

The beauty of Tartan's play lately has been the loss of people talking smack about them on here. Boy I sure miss those polls. This program is a joke. Their parents are constantly all over the refs or calling on their players to "hit em" every other minute. Their coaches rarely hold players accountable for dumb penalties which only allow the kids to continue their behavior. No leadership, no discipline, no success.

it was 2-1 north in the 3rd period, and with 3 seconds tartan had a face-off in the zone and after the buzzer they scored and thought it was in the net in time and started celebrating, then the refs finally got together and made the call and the place went nuts.. (Both sides) then when it was time to shake hands a smart tartan kid thought id be worth throwing punches then it broke loose

Actually it was a horrible officiated hockey game. On both sides. They missed calls for both teams. Tom Horner had an unbelievable game. Wood had two amazing saves as well. As I was told there was .03 seconds left when they scored but the refs called it back. As for the suspensions the reas Garret get ONE game is because him and the ref got into an argument. I was told the fight was started because both teams were yapping at eachother and it broke out. Tom Doran also only has one game. Everything is just falling apart for the Titans.

THIS IS HOW IT WENT DOWN Tartan scored the goal with .03 seconds left and the refs called it back, which was a terrible call, the ref called it a goal in the first place.. then when Tartan went to go shake hands with North- tartans tough team that they think they are started a fight.. i believe it was tolzman who was at the start of the line and started swinging at Dan Garrity and # 6 on North. then zack glass, tony truhler, and tom doran started bashin heads around like no other. The titans had a good start in the season and now has lost it - Not to mention tartan did dominate the whole game but HORNER played out of his mind. Its just the old team that weve always heard about TARTAN = FIGHTS = GARBAGE

so theres 3 refs and no one can agree right away as to what happened? is the game too fast for the officials? not just this one but, in general. i watch alot of high school games,jv, and bantam. seems the refs are constantly making calls from way behind the play or not in proper position. i know its hard to find good officials, but, really some are not even getting icing or offsides right. why? out of position. look at some of them they're so far out of shape they can't see their feet for their belly. how many times have you seen a pile in front of the net the puck goes in pulled back out and the ref finally makes it over to say no goal. all because he's not on the backline. i know this is went little off topic, and brawling should not be tolerated ever in high school. but, lets get some consistant officiating all 3 periods and it may help keep the game under control.

Tartan started to fall apart at the end of last year as well. We played them with maybe four games left on the regular season last year and some pushing and shoving was happening after ever whistle in front of both nets. Tartan had their backup goalie in the game and was not playing well and was getting very frusterated as the game progressed. For some reason late in the third, tartan's goalie (once again, it was their backup, not wood) got pissed (i really cant remember why) at one of our players. It was after a whistle and he skated behind the net and punched my teammate. Things didnt really escalate too much but the goalie ended up getting throwen in the penalty box. Was pretty funny to see. Tartan had to have been humiliated because they were a better team than us and we went into their place and beat them and their goalie was sittign in the penalty box. Completely added insult to injury.
Some of you have asked about their coaching. I am not sure but I think the head coach is a former gopher... not sure though.

Tartan's coach Jim Macaulmery played in the NHL and on the USA team.
Steve Romanchuch there other coach was better than Wayne Gretzky but then hurt his knee.

other view..

First off...
That was bar none the WORST reffing i've seen in a while.. North scored both of their goals on power plays and had two 5-3's...
Tartan recieved a tripping penalty.. than a "too many men on the ice" call when one of their players was sitting on the boards...
Here is the biggest joke.. all night the pegs were comming loose on the nets for both ends.. Wood being a big kid slides around specially when the puck is behind the net.. and when Tartan was short handed in the 2nd late in the period.. the net would barely come off.. litterally about 1-2 inches sliding forward to back.. THIS was due to the fact they had very little pegs in... the ref gives wood a delay of game because he kept blowing the whistle when the net would slide a mere inch.. (penalty after they were already 5-3).. heres the best part... after the 2nd period... they get NEW BIGGER PEGS!!! and no problem rest of the game.. Great job on the north staff or who ever set that up pre game with small pegs!
As to the fight.. its only a one game suspension.. and it was started because one... that WAS a goal and it is going to be on ch.19 i believe so anyone will be able to see it soon... and two... after the play Garrity was going to shake hands with a tartan kid... and #6 on north said somthing and the tartan kid than pushed garrity and the north kid actually threw the first punch, after that id say what happened from either point was ok in a hockey fight scenario.. it wasnt acting "hard" or "tough" of doran to go after 6.. the kid started throwing punches and he merely jumped in.. after that pretty much both teams were going at it or everyone was .. it was not just the selected players who were kicked out who were in th e fight....
Tartan should have won the game.. I think if they keep their heads up and stay focused on post season, they will be fine. They had NUMEROUS chances to score and win, but the bounces just didn't go their way. Tartan has South St.Paul on Tuesday now.

Somone might want to help me out here.. BUT, I believe the ref who displayed the goal sign was doing his job, the other ref knew what his call was going to be the whole time it was obvious he shot after the buzzer (Its not basketball)
The reason it was so controversal is because the Tartan players/fans saw that goal sign and thought that was that, when really the other refs job at that time is to make sure there was no time left.. Which just made the game even more intense and ridiculous
Tartans a good team when they come to play but they need to pick it up, I'd say losing to NSP was a big upset

Is Tartan on a bit of a HUGE downfall.. Or are the Polars just hot? Or got lucky?

I've been at poorly reffered games numerous times, but for Tartan to lose to NSP regardless of anything is a huge win for NSP. Congrats to the Polars. I'd love the Titans to rebound and do well in the post season.

for all i know is Garrity shouldnt run his mouth then run away when tolzman swings at him and calls hims out when he was talkin crap the whole game. then north players try to beat up the titans hahaha north = jokes. they might have beat tartan. but it was a fluke! i wanna see an all out brawl between NORTH HOCKEY PLAYERS VS. TARTAN HOCKEY PLAYERS. hahaha cant wait till it happens, cuz i will make it happen!

Why is Tartan Hockey in a downward spiral? Here's a case in point.
