The Tartan Titans (12-7) travel to Mendota Heights to play the St Thomas Cadets (14-4-2) at 7:30pm tonight. Tartan would like to end their two game losing streak and St Thomas would like to continue their 4 game winning streak. St Thomas shut out Tartan in Oakdale the first time they met 4-0.

Is Tartans Cary Wood alright after his broken thumb? His record since then has been not up to snuff. Anyone know is he full strength?

If St Thomas can shut them out in Oakdale, I think maybe the back up goalie would be in line for tonight. I just thought we hadn't had a Tartan thread in a long time, so for all your Tartan haters out there, here ya go.

Just like they out played STA when they played in Oakdale?
Tartan's overrated? Really? By who? Easy schedule with bad losses.

they are overated by all their supporters on this, all they do is talk themselves up, but not so much anymore

Tartan had TWO Defense!!! and had to move forwards back... They lost Garret larson due to concussion early in the game.. and Tim Anderson due to a shot to the leg... and Trueler was out for a injury i believe. The game was well played in the 1st... tied 0-0 after one with 15-3 shots. 3-1 after 2nd and few small fights broke out with 4 min penalties givin to like 3-4 people. Than 3rd tartan struggled with short D and just kinda fell apart. Wood got kicked out round 7 mins left for throwing a bunch after gettin what looked like a elbow to the face and someone else got a nother penalty same play... score was 5-1 or 6-1. Than Tartan drew about 3-4 penalties in 5 mins to end the game on bad note. Good thing its not Sections yet~ If they played like they did 1st period would have been alright but they will be needing their D at full health come sections and not rellying on only 2 of them with fowards playing back.

Tartan really needs an attitude adjustment. First off, Cary Wood punches Anders Lee and gets kicked out. Then the entire Tartan team leaves the ice slamming the door against the cement stairs. Come on, you just got murdered at least show a little class. It really disappoints me to see this kind of behavior. And no, Tartan will not be ok in sections getting outshot 15-3 in a period that you say they played well in. St. Thomas is not even a AA team....

He got kicked out. Does the high school league have any next game punishment, or just the game you are tossed from?

I work with the guy who refed this game, and also worked the Tartan/Richfield game earlier in the week... He's claiming that they're just coming unglued.
It seems pretty clear we're looking at a full-fledged meltdown in Oakdale, because these kids just can't put a game together recently, and now they can't control themselves. It's too bad. I'm not a Tartan guy by any means, but you hate to see a team that could could have been pretty good just coming apart at the seams.

I'm looking at the stats on maxpreps for this game and Carey Wood played 50 minutes and Chris Harwood played 1. Why would you switch goalies with a minute left when you are down by 7?

Mathrunner DO YOU NOT READ?????? It says a couple of times that he got tossed for punching Anders Lee. Let me guess, you did not know you could get tossed from a game for punching, because they do it in the NHL???Right??

He was tossed for punching somebody with his blocker.

Oh, gotcha.
Just curious what happened specifically. Usually when you see a goalie punching someone it's the guy he's punching that gets pulled away and talked to by the ref, not the other way around...

why is that
a punch is a punch right?
i don't think it is defined as a punch (except from a goalie)

I guess the deal is that an STA forward was coming in, and was pushed/checked into him, knocking his stick out and and at that point he threw the punch. He got a 5 minute major and a DQ. They were obviously getting beat, so the ref says he thinks it was out of frustration, rather than an actualy legitimate reason for going after him (if there is such thing).
I would guess we'll see a Tartan fan come in here and argue that, but I didn't see the game, just talked to somebody who was on the ice.

hawkfan,
remember he has not seen a whole lot of hockey games in his life though. He is just learning. I wish he would read the post before making himself look worse by commenting on something that has been talked about numerous times..
