W: HA, EP, CDH, Roseville, Blake, BSM,CR. After watching many of the top 15 or so teams this year, it seems that just about every game is a toss-up. Is this because of parity or the lack of so-called superstars?

The more widespread the parity the better the health of the game, isn't it? The days when one or two players can dominate are over. NSP had 2 Ms Hockey finalists last year and didn't even make the state tounament. This is a good thing.

Food for thought:

1. Holy Angels vs. New Prague - very interesting matchup. In their prior meeting the shots were very even. AHA held Kilpatrick and Ambroz to one goal each - can they do it again? AHA has better balance and should be favored in this one.

2. Eden Prairie vs. Blaine - With Ashley Nixon (8 shutouts) in goal you always have a chance. Lauren Zrust - Blaine's main offensive threat - will need to score for Blaine to come out on top.

3. Cretin Derham Hall vs. Roseville - CDH has really picked up their game and is riding an 8 game winning streak. Their last game against each other ended in a 1-1 tie. Too close to call IMO.

4. Hill Murray vs. South St. Paul - SSP won 2-0 in last meeting between these two, but since then H-M has gone 6-0. On the other hand SSP since then is 5-1 with 3 shutouts. I have no idea in this one - toss up?

5. Roseville vs. Stillwater - Last game earlier was a 5-5 tie. Stillwater is dangerous but I'll go with Roseville this time.

6. Breck vs. Blake - Great Class A private school rivalry. Blake should be favored, but not a sure thing by any means.

7. Hill Murray vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's - Another good private school matchup. BSM should win, but again H-M has that 6 game winning streak and will be pressing hard for the upset. I say BSM by 2.

8. Coon Rapids vs. Centennial - Great NW Suburban finale that will determine the outright conference champion. In the previous battle CR won 1-0, but since then Centennial has been a roll going 12-1-1. Meanwhile CR is riding a 5 game winning streak. I'm going with Centennial in this one as they will tie CR for the Northwest Suburban Conference championship.

this is a big game because the winner will clinch the confrence, yet hill murray can still lose to ssp as long as they beat benilde. a win from hill murray will win the confrence tho

ssp did win with 3 shutouts but how many shots were on goal in some of these games? ssp has no problem scoring, and thats what got them the wins in the past few games. hill murray on the other hand has a pretty good streak going, they have improved since the begining of the season and if they can strike early on south st.paul, i would take them on the win. south st.paul is known for being cocky in the begining of the game so it would be the perfect chance for them to take the lead. otherwise, the tempo just keeps going up once south st.paul scores and it will be thier game. its gunna be a close one, but good.

Hill Murray boasts a good defense but with the exception the 2 games against Tartan they have had scoring troubles all year, they can't count on winning this game one to nothing like they did against Richfield

That will be true in their game against BSM as well. IMO they will need to score at least 4 goals to beat them, and so far they've been averaging less than 3 per game.

This should be a great matchup. SSP has really started to play well since the Kaposia. However I believe HM also has a significant advantage between the pipes. If she's on, I think HM can pull off a low scoring upset. Not sure Hill has enough to get by BSM in any case however.

Anyone see the Roseville vs. CDH game (6-1 Roseville)? I was expecting a closer game than this.

Eden Praire appears to have had little trouble in beating Blaine (3-0). The closest one was Holy Angels getting by New Prague (3-1), being up by just one for a time in the 3rd period.
