The shot to the head? I think it was called by the officals as interferace. I also think the klyne was in the box for his actions. Refs took care of it! If anything was said in line does this give west the right to do two cheap shots and possibly getting players misconducts? Everyone must take deep breath and think of what started the incident. Two cheap dirty shots, one from behind.

Bombsquad,
Two cheap shots??? I only remember the Mankato kid tackling the Kline kid and then the whole thing turned into pandemonium but please share where the second "cheap shot" occured.

My guess and this will be my last post on it is that all parties involved can take some of the blame. I also think that the kids will look back on it and think of what their actions could have cost them and realize they made mistakes. Hopefully they would learn from this.
I would hate to see this affect next years meeting between West and NU ( I think they were supposed to play each other) as I think the coaches from both teams want to play each other and respect each other. Both teams will return a nice core of players and should match up well.

Wouldn't be the least surprised that clyne was cocking off. Every game it seems he's doing something to the crowd or the players...doenst matter if they win or lose. This kid needs to learn some sportsmanship. I notice it every time.

I think the second "cheapshot" that bombsquad is talking about is #27 from Mankato skating from the back of the handshake full speed and drilling one of the New Ulm players in the back of the head with his elbow knocking him face first to the ice. The penalty with two minutes left in the game was called and is over. That does not come to play in the hand shake. If that is the case # 10 from Mankato was out the last minute of the game and all he was doing was head hunting. Does that also make it alright to throw punches in the hand shake line? The parents of mankato should be really proud of what they were saying to our players as they were skating off the ice. I can see students but parents? One player in particular comes to mine when I say this is our goalie Adam Buegler. He stayed back by his net the whole time during the brawling. Before he left the ice he went over and finished shaking hands with the all of the west coaches and the referees. Than as he is walking through the bench area from up above the PARENTS not the students are hollaring at him to go back to New Ulm you cheap f____er and plenty of other things. Real grown up. Classy!

Lets get real. The game of hockey is full of cheap shots and mouthy kids. If you get caught, you go to the box. Both New Ulm and Mankota and everyother team in Minnestoa has one or two or more. That's the game. What is truely unbelievable in reading the posts here is that some people will condone the fighting during the handshake because someone "cocked off" to them, like it was the first and only time it has happened to them or that they heard the words "mother F**". Stop making excuses for your kids. They are probably good kids who just did somthing stupid.

Should New Ulm players of "cocked-off" during the hand shake; NO. However you can not say in any fashion that they started the fight. Mankato's injured goalie tackled Kline and then #27 started throwing punches. Its on film. Again it doesn't matter what happened in the game or what "was said" after. The game is over, win and lose with class and shake hands.

Ilovelife23 said the kids from Mankato were emotionally unstable because they lost. Come on!!! Then accross the state this last week 15 other teams of emotionally unstable kids DIDN'T start a fight.

The Mankato parents (and New Ulm's) need to talk to their own kids and explain that what happened on Monday was wrong!! They're not bad kids, they were just wrong. I'll agree eaglefan06, some of the things the Mankato parents were saying were beyond shocking, maybe that explains why the some of the Mankato kids are "emotionally unstable".

Good luck to both teams on Friday. Lets play hockey.

yeah feller but i bet teams that beat those other 15 teams weren't saying "yeah thats right mother f**kers" to the opposing kids. that's what triggered the fight more than anything. its past and we all need to move on... good luck to both teams.

#27 was not throwing any punches. He was being bear hugged by the NU coach. You want to talk class how about the NU coach screaming at West kids F this F you and then as he is holding a mankato player back he is telling one of his player to kick someones butt. CLASSY!!

give #10 from Mankato a break he was a senior on the team that didnt even play a shift until the end. He had a clean check at center ice. Also, he had a scoring chance right in front of the whole New Ulm team...aka Team Buegler he had a solid game i give him credit for that. Well back to the point #10 just played his last shift and worked his bag off and it was great to see.

gabT- I never said # 27 threw any punches but he did come from the back of the hand shake line full speed and deck a new ulm kid from behind. There is NO WAY any of the New Ulm coaches said anything like that. Please!

this is the first chance i've gotten to go on here since thursday. first off im going to say that i am very embarrased to have stuck up for marshall so much the past week, as they lost by 6. i think its been a while that second round of sections has had run time third period. they had 12 seniors who were amazing individually but for some reason cant come together as a team. it was clear that most didnt have the heart to win.

as for the new ulm game, it shouldnt be that hard to just shut up and shake hands through the line. their are a couple players from NU that i've heard say things that are innapropriate and really shouldnt be said. but then again, its hockey, and that comes from every team. also, you should be able to control yourself and not start something and hit the guy. but i also wasnt in the situation.

everyone thinks albert lea played well monday, but then again they didnt really have a lot of competition against marshall. new ulm is a strong team and i think they'll take the section 1a title friday. i hope i dont get disappointed again.

As far as I know I have seen Mankato West's #10 that kid plays with more heart than any player i can think of. even though it was his last game I dont think there was a better way for him to end his high school hockey careers then that last shift. That kid had a great season

Don't bet anything of value on that statement...
AL is not the same team that they were at the beginning of this season.
If AL is "on", NU has no chance.

It was the younger coach and since I was on the ice i would know if a coach was yelling I was almost right next to him. NO to answer the next question I was not in the fight.
EDIT: spelling

I have to go with BabyBlue on this one. Even though as i read posts this year i did not agree with a lot, but i agree with him on this one. It was just a beating by AL and if they play like that again, like i said before probably not a close game but you never know. Also, if they win they will have a way better showing in the state tourney then New Ulm. Just the fact that AL works their tails off every shift and should continue to do that and they will be fine. That is just what I believe, and ppl will complain aboot it.

i also agree with the past two statements above. Albert is a very good team that deserves a lot of respect. They played throughout the whole game against marshall without slacking, even when the clock was running in the third they still played there hearts out. It's going to be hard deciding who will win in the finals. It will be either close with a new ulm win, or AL is going to dominate.

Not a bad post...
Sure beats the heck out of all that unsportsmanlike crap that has been kinda pervasive here...
Back to hockey, and forget about the MW/NU outburst of unsportsmanlike conduct...

i was wondering how many people from new ulm recieved a broken jaw in 2 places cuz there is a kid from kato who spent the night in surgery.

Albert Lea is a very strong team. they have alot of guys that can move the puck quick and accuratly. if AL plays like they did against Marh. New Ulm's season will be done. But if NU runs their mouths like their good at and AL takes penalties, NU should capitalize on their powerplay. I think this game will come down to special teams, and who spends the most time in the box. 5on5 AL will beat NU easily, and if they stay out of the box, they will increase their lead more and more.
Prediction:

Albert Lea 7

New Ulm 2

Is this topic about Section 1A hockey or NU/MW unsportsmanlike conduct, including their fans?
