Soooooo funny Neut
If Liriano had stayed healthy and we swept the awards... how big of a disappointment would it have been that we got swept?

A clean sweep of the post season awards wouldn't have made the ending any worse. Seeing Marco Scutaro deliver with double after double after double was enough in itself.

This is a pretty good ending...
Batting Title-Joe Mauer
Cy Young-Johan Cytana
MVP-Justin Morneau
Coach of the Year (2nd place)-Ron Gardenhire
Rookie of the Year (3rd Place)-Francisco Liriano
American League Central Division Champions

Just because he's like Redman doesn't mean it will help us against him.

You know about the only award the Twins didn't pick up this year was a World Series ring and I think they'd trade in all those awards for that one without any conundrum. Nice to see Morneau get the MVP, he did deserve it.

Very nice work thus far Chris, it will be interesting to see how it goes once the season starts kickin'

ESPN.com wrote:A designated hitter, preferably one who hits for power. If Jason Kubel isn't going to get a shot in left, they could stand to acquire someone to play there as well.
Ok... is ESPN Insider checking out the message board now?

Didn't Kubel just have another knee surgery? What is the situation with Rondell White? That has to help his chances weather they be good or bad.

I think Kubel is another in a long line of OF prospects that has not and will not work out for our boys of summer.
Put Rondell out there and add a DH with power.
BTW, thanks all of you guys for a really fun time on this thread. It was a fun season. I miss baseball already.
Thanks IS for starting this great thread and for everybody who put their 2 cents in.

Twins sign 2004 All-Star Ken Harvey to a minor league contract, and are also close to signing Milwaukee's Jeff Cirillo.

Ken Harvey played for the Royals in 2004. They had to pick somebody for the All-Start team and A. It was his turn or B. They drew his name out of a hat. What has he done and where has he played since then.

Lets go Terry. Lets go Carl.
Now is the time. Retake control of the minnesota sports scene. Make a big splash. Sign a big time hitter.
Lets go boys.
Why is now the time? Well, I am glad you asked that question.
The Vikings are dead in the water and going no where. They dont have any prospects of getting better in the near future. They have no young players with any real promise.
Same with the TWolves. By the time Foye reaches what they think is his potential, Garnett will be done.
Neither franchise knows how to draft.
But the Twins. Whole different deal. Not since the early 60's has the future looked brighter. They have accomplished young players who will only get better.
Mauer and Liriano will be in the Hall of fame.
Morneau will hit 500 HRs
Johan Santana.....well, enough said.
A new stadium is on the horizon.
Lets go Carl. Lets go.
Lets do something in the off season. Come on.
The iron is hot. Strike.

Your logic is infallible packerboy. Your reasoning sound. But it is doomed.

The

Even 3 mil

I don't get the Harvey signing. Lets say he ends up being healthy and he can hit his career averages. In what capacity would they even use him?
The reigning MVP will hopefully play 150+ games. No, he's not the DH is he? I thought TR learned his lesson last year with Twinkle Toes Tony and Ruuuuuuuuuuuuben. .

I too thought he would have learned something IS but apparently he needs somehing heavy to fall on him.
You mentioned Batista and Sierra but what about Boone the year before and dont you have to add White. Sure he had a good second half which give us hope but overall a big dissapointment.
TR signing these bargain basement free agents is like:

The Cirillo and Harvey signings tell me that the priority in this offseason is Rochester.
Don't forget the battery of Mulholland and Pat Borders a couple of years ago either.

This is incredible. Our prayers have been answered.
Jeff Cirillo a Twin.
Thank you Carl. Christmas comes early courtesy of Ebeneezer Pohlad.
Bah humbug.

With a Market like this...
Miguel Batista 3yr/27 million (career below .500 pitcher)
Gil Meche 5yr/55 million
Vernon Wells 7yr/126 million
How can Minnesota make Morneau/Mauer/Santana career Twins?
Posted: Fri Dec 15, 2006 9:58 am
by packerboy
It seems impossible. If the timimg is bad as far as when you have to sign them, they could be 50 million a year in just those 3 players.
That leaves you wiih about 15-20 million for everybody else.
