That must have been a good game between Austin and Faribo. The teams put up 59 total shots (Austin 32 shots, Faribo 27). I'm not positive about line combinations, but it appears that both first lines accounted for all the scoring.
Austin
*Jenkins 3g 1a (nice work in a big game)
*Faber 1g 1a
*Knudtson 1g
Faribo
*Kastner 2 g
*Miller 1g
I'd like to hear about it, anybody see the game?

i saw the game. the refs kinda sucked and called off a goal of faribault's that should have counted. they said a girl was in the crease and she was but the puck was also. so it should have counted. and the austin first goal was ridiculous because an austin player pushed the faribo goalie out of the net and left a wide open net that they scored on. the penalties that were called were bad too. they would call a bad penalty on faribo, the coaches would complain and then could call basically a pitty call on austin. it was bad!
and for the person that said faribo was cocky because of that news article, that isnt exactly what she said or how she said it. the news paper guy made her sound like that.i agree it was a bad article but the girls hockey team isnt cocky AT ALL!

It's about time that Faribo get the wrong end of the stick when it comes to reffing. Everytime you go up to their barn you get screwed, that is one thing you can count on up there. Then they come on here and wine about it when they might have gotten shafted a little bit.

The refs in faribault are in no way ever sideing with the home team. They make bad calls both ways.
The austin, faribault game was a great game. Both teams played well and the refs blew calls for both sides. Being a faribault player i commend austin on there win, they played a great game.
Try having those kind of refs every single home game.

GREAT GAME. Two good hockey teams. The 5th goal was a Faber open netter.
The refs made the right call on the disallowed faribault goal.(As much as my fellow parents hate to hear it). The refs let them play. It was a rough game.
The goalies were about equal. Austin's goalie missed a poke check on the puck , and let a soft one in.
I don't believe either team was cocky in any way. They played very hard and at the end were friends. I enjoy watching kids compete and then shake hands, smile, and talk at the end. You could see they knew each other well.
I am convinced that there are 4 close teams in our section. I like our chances against Austin again.
I hope, with as much fun as we have on this website, that we all support the section 1A winner in state, as this winner will represent all of us. Our section is being discounted as subpar.

Section 1 always get discounted. Our Section isn't necessarily loaded with highly skilled teams, but we're still deeper than 3A...

Good point falcons, hopefully the section will be well represented up at "The Show".

Not sure that its always a good thing for the refs to "let them play". I believe I saw 2 or 3 Mayo girls get hurt in one game last year when the refs "let them play". I'd prefer that girls be allowed to play and win with skill, athleticism and team-play, not surviving a game of attrition.

I'm agree 100%. I like girls hockey a lot because it is a skill game and I hope it stays that way.

So how far did Austin run the score up Saturday?
Didn't hear the final...

I heard they won 6-0. One less than Albert Lea and two less than us. I guess Albert Lea and Faribault are better. Who is going to win the Century /Mankato East game?

I think Century/East already played their only regular season game and tied 2-2...

just because a team doesnt run a score up as bad as other teams doesnt mean theyre not as good..i happen to watch the end of that game and austin clearly dominated-they hardly shot just moved the puck around killing bad teams is nothing to brag about
are theyre any "good" games coming up? how did faribault do against mayo?

Austin ran-er-up in a couple of games earlier this year pretty good...
10 goal wins, for example (look at their scores).
It doesn't make a team better or worse, pickle, you are absolutely correct.

I agree with rubberpickle. the games that really test a team are the ones that matter. I'm interested as well: how did faribault do against mayo?

Faribault -mayo game didnt happen
After warm-ups teams went to the locker rooms, come to find out there were no refs, they waited in there locker rooms for close to an hour then it was called off.

GAMES THIS WEEK...
12/19
Albert Lea @ West
Waseca @ Faribo
Owatonna @ Austin
East @ Farimont
12/21
Austin @ New Ulm
Waseca @ West
JM @ Faribo
East @ St. Peter
Couple interesting games for Austin this week. That Austin/New Ulm came could be a fun one to watch. AL @ West should be a close game, but who knows. West has more experience and they're at thome.
Any thoughts?
al vs. mw

should be interesting knowing that albert lea beat west in sections last year and west was the higher seed.. these two teams are rivals knowing that they have faced eachother in sections the last 3 years... mankato west has good players but they are overshadowed by their not to good goalie...

albert lea should beat west-after losing their goalie and a few fowards they are a rather weak team but good defense- AL is rather inconsistent it seems.. should be a good game
faribault will crush waseca- just a young team with no depth give them a few years-faribaults strong in their section
austin should beat owatonna-just a guess i dont know much about owa but austin seems strong
not sure about the east and farimont- east is weak but i havent heard anything from farimont, maybe a close game

Albert Lea is inconsistant?? Maybe last season. Other than that loss to Northfield, Albert Lea has been winning the games they should win. Faribo, Austin and Mayo are just better hockey teams than Albert Lea.
@ Northfield/ARTech 1 - 3 L
Rochester Century 7 - 0 W
@ Rochester Mayo 1 - 7 L
Mankato East/Immanuel Lutheran 7 - 0 W
@ Austin 1 - 4 L
@ Waseca 7 - 0 W
@ Faribault 2 - 2 T
@ Owatonna 3 - 2 W
@ Rochester John Marshall 4 - 0 W

12/19 predictions
*AL 3 West 2
AL holds West to 2 goals, but has to come from behind for a late win.
*Faribo 8 Waseca 0
Faribo has too much for Waseca
*Austin 5 Owat 2
Austin beat AL, AL beat Owatonna
*East 2 Farimont 3
Just a guess
12/21 predictions/guesses
*New Ulm 3 Austin 4
Should be a great game between 2 potential #1 seeds
*West 7 Waseca 1
West is too much for Waseca
*Faribo 5 JM 1
Faribo has too much speed for JM
*St. Peter 2 East 4
Just a guess

good prediction for Austin and Owatonna, RSI. Austin beat Owatonna 5-1.

see when i said AL was inconsistent i didnt mean it as an insult they are a good team just too young to expect a lot out of...give them a few years and they will be dominant
tying faribault but then losing to west (who is also a good team) shows AL's best years are still to come
the austin owatonna game wasnt as close as i thought it would be..was it closer than the score says?

AL outshoots West 27 -24 and loses 6-2...
I thought play was fairly even most of the night. AL has a tough time putting the puck in the net, thus they can't afford to make many mistakes...they made quite a few mistakes last night and West capitalized on them. AL didn't get the performance out of their "D" and "G" that they needed.

The starting goalie gave up 4 goals in a period and a half.
She was pulled, and the second goalie did much better, giving up two goals that were definitely not "soft" (1 breakaway and 1 from the high post).
