I'm just curious about Huson, so he played at LVN, but then BSM before moving to GR? Was he varisty or jv at BSM? Again, I'm just curious about the player, not at all about the earlier comments about him/family in this thread.

Lol. I'm not a self proclaimed 7AA genius , but I do observe a lot of 7 AA hockey. GR, East, and ER as always the favorites. The rest will fight it out to join these 3 powers in the quarter finals at the end of the year. CEC will fight the fight. Talent wise, we rarely have the most each year. We play AA hockey and compete quite well each year with less talent. That's all.

Yea. Big week for Cloquet. We head to Rapids tomorrow night and host Duluth East on Thursday. The atmosphere at both games is always very exciting.

Yea, it really gets going this week, plus Elk River playing Blaine, while not a 7AA opponent is still a solid team to give fans some idea of what Elk River might look like this year. I guess there should of been more 7AA talk last week with East playing Andover to a 6-5 win. That kinda came out of nowhere. I don't know if that is chalked up to a shaky game for the Hounds goalie or if Andover is going to be a legit threat to maybe get a 4 seed or higher. Grand Rapids hopefully learned in the 1st period vs Virginia that you can't let off the gas pedal against anyone and it isn't a lesson that needs to be repeated. Dave Esse IMO has the talent to pull off the upsets that they have time and again in the past. Both CEC games are huge this week for how 7AA will shake out.

Outside of the PP for Andover East outplayed them throughout the game. Each time East controlled the play they would head to the box. The 1st two goals Mierehoff was hung out to dry and last two PP goals one was 6 on 3 and then 6 on 4

Rapids over Cloquet 5-0 tonight (shots 43-9). There was a 25 minute stretch CEC didn't get a shot on goal. If it wasn't for CEC's goalie standing on his head it would've been 9-0. Really feel bad for CEC and miss the days when they were super competitive, but it sounds like Cloquet has a very bright future given the success of their current bantam team. I don't hold much hope for them to upset East on Thursday, but it seems like over the years they give their most spirited effort against the Hounds.

You have to have some talent to win. Cloquet's loss was in no way a reflection of poor coaching on Esse's part. His resume is proof enough that he is a really good HS coach. As for this season, I do agree at this point that Cloquet is looking like a 5-7 seed. They could certainly lose to Forest Lake and Andover, which both of those teams have no chance of being a contender in 7AA. Right now it really feels like Elk River will probably be the 3 seed and Grand Rapids and Duluth East are gonna decide the 1 and 2 seed on Jan 7th in GR. One thing to watch in this is if Cloquet were to drop to the 6th seed and play at Elk River, by that time Esse could have his squad playing well enough to make it interesting. I think more than once CEC has taken ER to overtime in the quarterfinals as a much lower seed. Didn't that happen when it was a 1 vs 8?

I remember warning you ER fans that East would find a way to swindle that 1 seed. That was such a crock. As bad as GR being a 3 seed on the initial vote in 2002 and then dropping to the 5 seed on the final vote.

Nailing the coffin? In early December? As happy as I was to see my Thawks beat the jacks, I would save the hardware. I don't expect Cloquet to beat any of the proposed top 3, so if this is just in reference to seeding, you may be right, but there is a lot of season left. I for one am not counting any chickens just yet on ANYONE.
